Rugged and bright
A good, well made and rugged flashlight. Is much brighter than the old incandescent ones. I bought it for the built in ruggedness of the aluminum body. My only problem is that it was too slim to fit in the place in my car that I wanted it in. It was to replace a MAGLITE 2 D cell and I ended up getting a 3 D cell as well. This is now my bedroom light.

Nothing works like a Maglite
It really is hard to beat a Maglite. I have lots of flashlights. And I mean lots. We live in a dark county. In my work I have always needed lights to work in remote, low light areas. Bought this one to clip into a holder by our front door. I love the quick focus feature. The slimmer design of the C cell body is more comfortable to handle. Maglite is a little more expensive than most, but you get what you pay for and they are American made. They are the best general purpose lights on the market in my opinion. The 3C batteries provided an incredible length of light over smaller units. Days rather than hours on low, which is still plenty of illumination. I bought the factory mounts for it and rechargeable LiPo cells. Initial outlay is a little much, but this light is used every day and should serve us for YEARS. They are well worth the price. I have some Maglites I've been using for more than 30 years. With a little care, they will last forever. Remember to check your batteries often. And once a year or so, l disassemble my lights, clean them and reassemble them with a good silicone grease on all the threads and O rings. They are an investment worth making.

A true American made flashlight!
It's a Maglight ! Are they cheap, no! Are they going to last, yes! Are they heavy, slightly. Will they break if dropped, hell no!I own a lot of Maglight flashlights, they are the best affordable USA made flashlights, in my opinion. I used them for years, and years at LAX Airport for work. This one is newest to me. This one uses C size batteries, so I bought some high capacity rechargeable batteries, and a charger. It works great, super bright, easy to adjust from spot to flood light with a slide of the head. This also has 3 brightness levels, for longer battery life. It weighs considerably less then my older D battery ones, but just as bright. If you want a great flashlight, to last you years, and years.....pick one up. My last bit of information is the Lifetime warranty. This provides a trust of craftsmanship for sure. I've never had to use it, but it's nice to have. See if your plastic China stuff has that ?! Didn't think so. Get one for your vehicle, you won't be disappointed.

Still a quality product!
Maglite has been synonymous with quality and heavy-duty for years and that does not seem to have changed. I've been using an old ML300 D-cell flashlight for many years with never a problem. I thought I'd check out the C-cell light because it's LED and much lighter. It works great and includes some alternate lighting modes but can be challenging to switch between them.

Better beam throw than my Streamlight Polystinger LED.
This review is about the MagLite 3 C size battery light (model # ML50L) which I bought on Amazon on June 16, 2016 for $33.63. I have many flashlights but I like flashlights that throw a beam at least 300 meters for my Security job. This flashlight can easily be priced for over $50 just for the illumination, small size and sturdiness, not to mention the well known brand. See my pics of this Maglite compared with my $100 (flashlight only) employer owned Streamlight Polystinger. The beam throw on the cheaper MagLite is awesome.Polystinger is 8.5 inches long and weighs 11.4 oz. Maglite is 10.2 inches long and weighs 16.7 oz (just over 1 pound). Poly's range on high is rated at 322 meters and MagC at 339.Cons- 1)Have to unscrew the tailcap to change out the batteries. I only use rechargeable batteries, currently using EBL brand which I bought on Amazon on Nov. 28, 2015 and haven't failed me yet.2)No tailcap switch, which improves the tactical-use factor.3) A little heavier than the Streamlight (see pics).Pro- 1)Sturdier, can be used to whack someone if needed without worrying about breaking it like the plastic on the Polystinger.2) Adjustable beam from tight hotspot to flood BUT it ins't very much though so keep that in mind. Its flood range is not what it is on the legendary rechargeable MagCharger flashlight.3) No charger needed, any C sized batteries will do.4)More lumens on high (633) compared to Polystinger (385) and the Eco setting (25 lumens) is a little lower than the Poly's low mode (95 lumens) and is far more comfortable for indoor everyday use as it is not too bright.5)PRICE. Very affordable.

Compact powerful light
First, I like the barrel diameter of the C-cell Maglites better than D-cell because they fit my medium-sized hand much better. The light with batteries is also much lighter. This is a very good compromise between an AA and D-cell light. It gives you much more reach to light distant targets and a lot more spill light for safety and finding your way in a dark area compared to the AA options. Because of its smaller dimension and much lighter weight, I find I carry it much more than a double D-cell Maglite.I left it set on the initial feature set which has a HIGH, LOW, and ECO mode output depending on the number of clicks you use to activate it. On click one, it is very powerful with a really long reach and adjustable spill by turning the heat with very few beam artifacts. On the second click, the light output is similar to a normal double D-cell flashlight. On the third click, ECO mode is great in a small area where you don't want blow out your dark-adapted pupils or you are in a tight space like a car trunk where a strong beam would washout everything so you can't see what you are looking for or trying are trying to read.

DO NOT BUY MAGLITE - CRAP PRODUCT
TOTAL CRAP! BROKE AFTER ONE MONTH!I was excited to get this item as I had heard so many great things about Mag Lites. Mag Lite is total garbage, it stopped functioning after 3 weeks, tried various troubleshooting.
