Style:Lakeside Stripe Soft, silky and beautiful! a uniquely textured yarn that works up quickly and easily. From shawls to sweaters to throws, this yarn can't be beat for softness and sheer touch-ability. With solids, heathers, and beautiful self-striping 'painterly' colors, homespun comes in gorgeous shades you'll love. Please note that some colors have long, slow color variations that cause them to subtly stripe. This is deliberate and adds to the beauty of the finished garment; such yarns are designated as our 'painterly' colors.

BEAUTIFUL COLOR, A BIT HARD TO WORK WITH
Just started my project with this yarn. I knit on a loom not with knitting needles. The yarn is a bit hard to work with, kind of separates and bunches together and the ends fray badly. Love the color, reminds my of Goldie Locks hair. I hope the project does not look all frayed when I am finished.UPDATE: This is the worst yarn you can buy. I wish I could give it less than one star. It bunched, frayed, separated and caused me nothing but problems. The last few stitches, even knitting without any tension at all, the yarn broke which made my project a piece of trash. I will never buy this brand of yarn again. I knit hats for the homeless in my area and they deserve better than this.UPDATE #2: I contacted Lion Brand yarn with the same review as above. Their customer service is AWESOME. Debbie contacted me and offered me a replacement. I knit hats for the homeless and she helped me pick something that would give me the most bang for my buck. I probably won't buy this TYPE of yarn again but I will definitely buy Lion Brand!

Love it
I make afghans and scarves on the Knitting Board. I ALWAYS use the Homespun. It is soft and cozy. I use the variegated colors when making afghans because the colors come out in stripes which is beautiful. Pictured is my current project-another afghan. I added solid black for contrast stripes. I love this brand and am happy that Amazon carries it since I live in a rural area and it is almost an hour drive to a store that carries it and the price is comparable to the store.

Quality Control goofed on this one.
I use Homespun yarn and make gifts. As I use this skein, I have knit about 300 stitches and have come across, so far, 8 knots joining remnants. I thought I just tolerate this until I just found another. I'm hoping the retailer will send me a new skein, it's not as much about reimbursement as to get this pattern after my return date. I hope Amazon is reading this also. Unfortunately there is no place to camouflage the tiny ends.

Can find it cheaper elsewhere.
A couple of things. The yarn itself is awesome. It’s the only style of yarn that I use because I love how soft it is and easy to work with. The yarn I bought from Amazon was cut in multiple places throughout the skein. I had to keep tying it, or it was stringy and not as thick as usual. Also, you can find yarn for much cheaper at Michaels or Joanns. Joanns has coupons on their app and site and you can get the same skein for several dollars cheaper. In one case particular, I saved over $5 per skein by going to Joann. Amazon is not always the cheapest.

Two Stars and a Wish
I like the personality and character of this yarn. It is unique with its subtle ripple and it's soft enough to be cozy when bundled up in a shrug. The only bummer is the color. I had a different batch of this from years ago (how many I don't know) and it had A LOT more blue in it. This batch seems to be a muddled, muted purplish-gray, and the blue is much better. I've ordered it a couple of different times for various projects in, but also in an experiment to see if I maybe got a different dye lot but it seems they changed the color altogether. Nothing I can do I guess.

Beatuiful!
I love this Homespun yarn! It's so soft and is beautiful, especially in a simple pattern with a small stitch. I'm using Pearl to make a baby blanket for someone who likes neutrals and this is perfect, especially for a girl. The yarn has a subtle luminescence like a pearl that's just gorgeous when the light hits it. That said, I would use this as an external blanket, i.e., not as a receiving blanket or a crib blanket (unless baby is wearing pajamas) but more like a stroller/car blanket, where the blanket wouldn't touch baby's skin directly. It's soft but still a little rough for a baby. Which is why I'm also making an afghan for myself, lol. The variety/selection of colors is great as well. And I love the way the variegated colors fade into one another, the change is gradual and looks beautiful. I have several colors selected that I plan to purchase for future projects. There are a couple of things to be aware of: 1) That while this yarn doesn't shed, some colors do pile (e.g., 236 - Celestial Stripes). While it can enhance the beauty of the yarn/project (looks more heathery which is nice for capes, scarfs, etc.), the brilliance/intensity of the colors may become muted especially if the stitch is large/loose. 2) The texture of the yarn is bulky which requires additional control especially depending on the stitch so some don't recommend this yarn for beginners. I don't think it matters, just make sure you have a K hook or larger depending on how tight/loose your stitch is and test out a swatch of the stitch you're planning to use to make sure it will work. It literally took 6 attempts with the Celestial color before I found a pattern that didn't cause the yarn to lose it's sheen and brillance. It's an absolutely beautiful blend of teal, turquoise, blue, purple, dark pink, and a light yellow/green and smaller stitches best maintain both otherwise the texture will mellow and become more heathery as you work with it. Still beautiful, just a different look to be aware of if you use it. Interestingly, I didn't experience this with the Pearl color so it differs from color to color.Homespun has become one of my go to yarns when I'm seeking a bulky yarn. I highly recommend it.

A unique yarn that adds texture
It takes a bit of getting used to because there is an inner strand that tends to work its way out of line with the threads of yarn. Once you realize the need to work gently, the end results are amazing and unique!! I find this yarn is best for the slightly more experienced and not the beginner because of that. This yarn makes some amazing scarves, shawls, and blankets!! The colors tend to be more intense than most yarns, so if color is what you're wanting, this yarn is your ticket! It also makes very stunning fringe because once the threads come apart, it is beautifully silky and fluffy. There is definitely a need for this yarn in the stash of the dedicated knitters.

Lovely to work with.
This is lovely yarn to knit with. I made a beautiful blue teddy bear and it’s so soft and cuddly. The only problem I had with it was that, knitted on the recommended needles, it was too open for a toy. For a garment it would be fantastic, drapey and silky. I solved my problem by going down a needle size - and therefore teddy size. I plan to make a jacket or top from this yarn soon. It knits very easily in spite of being made up of several different strands. To sew up I recommend using a finer, toning yarn rather than this one which would be bulky. I love that there’s an ombré colouring which is quite subtle, too,

Nice yarn, but colour way off
Nice yarn, but colour is nowhere near what is pictured, even with allowing for differences in screen display & dye lots
