It reads the temp of food, so no more scare of undercooked pork and the horrible effects that the food media has scared the sh__ outta me. But ya, it works fine and is now magnetized on my fridge waiting to be used again

Generally works as expected. When checked against accurate, non-digital laboratory thermometer, it was accurate at 67°F and up to 114°. At 147° this one showed 151°, and at 187° it showed 4 degrees high at 191°. In electronics this is called "slope", and although I did not test higher, the difference is expected to increase slightly as the temp rises more, as many digital thermometers do.Minor detractions: display window is too narrow for the numbers, so a "7" in the temperature shows as a "1", unless the unit is tilted to be level with the eye. The batteries will not stay in the battery compartment unless held in by replacing the battery cover.Otherwise a good value, and very useful for meats, testing cooking oil temps, chocolate tempering, and many many other uses.

Not a candy thermometer 300° max need almost 500° to make candy well not quite that high but something that can withstand that much .... This product cannot

Worked good for a month, then it stopped working. It turns on, but it just has blank dashes on it. I am very disappointed, because I have to buy a new one. But it won't be from this company

I like it. It's not instant read, but it's pretty darn fast. I love that the buttons are easy and intuitive - I don't have to cycle through things like other thermometers I've had. The compact design is great. Auto on and off is handy. And the specially fitted case is a great bonus.

I've used the thermometer only a couple times since it arrived, but it works great and is very easy to use and gives the temperature very quickly. So far, so good!

Used it maybe a few times per year, and it seemed to work alright, if a bit slower than I would have liked.But, after a few years of very little use (maybe 10-15 times), it just stopped working one day. And, of course, I needed it to cook a prime rib roast on Christmas Day, so I couldn't run out to the store to buy a thermometer.Whichever thermometer you use, have a cheap spare, so you aren't left without one on a holiday.

What a total pos! Not even close to instant read. I melted it waiting for the temperature to read. Its supposed to read in 4 to 6 seconds. Well I knew the meat was warmer than what it was reading and the temp was still going up on the readout after 20 seconds. Unfortunately, by that point the heat from the grill melted one side of it.
