The Optician Training Manual: Simple Steps to Becoming a Great Optician

I was hired to be an Optician a few days ago, but wouldn't start for 2 weeks. I was so excited to start learning that I order the book for myself and have been studying every spare moment! It's easy to read and follow and makes me 1000% more confident for my first day

I received this as an anniversary gift off of my wish list here and I must say it's amazing. The book discusses everything from anatomy, to picking frames/lenses, to adjustments and troubleshooting, to even contact lens insertion and removal. While many states don't require a certified optician in the office, this book will get you that extra qualification should you desire to be certified. I feel confident that, with this as my study tool, I will pass the ABO on my first try.

Good resource for new and seasoned opticians. Great illustrations. Very helpful as a study aid for the licensing exam or as a reference for the experienced optician. Nicely written and easy to understand.

I bought this book for my wife, and she was delighted. She is a licensed optician and swears this is the best resource she has seen for her occupation. After buying this book, I did find a website that you can sign up for (one-time fee) which offers online training videos and will give you a PDF version of this book for free.

If you plan on passing the optician test to become certified this is the book to buy. Written in plain English it is easy to understand the principles that guide opticians.

The Optician Training Manual was easy to read and understand. Helped me relate the basics to real world application in a short amount of time. The only drawback was some technical information missing to help me ready for the optician certification, although the author did state that it was not meant for this use. I would recommend this manual to anyone just starting in the optician field. A great resource for initial info and just starting out.
