Monster Bugs (Step-Into-Reading, Step 3)

perfect choice for elementary school reading
I love these series. But most important that my son does. I order 20+ books and he loves to read them (usually it is not that easy to make him read). I got mix of 2-3-4 levels for the second grader, second level is too easy, but it creates some fun and he reads them with pleasure. Love it, I would recommend it.

Studying Bugs Can be Fun
I love these Step-Into-Reading books for kids, especially for reluctant readers. This one is non-fiction, and appeals to all appropriate age kids. A Level 3 is one that kids who can decode will be able to handle. The sentences are longer, not so much repetition in the books. And like a true nonfiction book, it contains many features that teachers and parents will want to reinforce to their kids. For instance, table of contents, headings, vocabulary words, pictures or illustrations, captions and even glossaries or indexes. The topic of bugs is a favorite for many kids, especially boys. The series does a lot of books in the non-fiction category, which opens up a whole new vista for kids used to reading only fiction in picture books.

very educating
My 7 year old girl loooves this book and decided to become a scientist now :)It also gives children an idea that bugs are not automatically something you need to step on or kill but are necessary in the nature

not a bedtime story
what little boy [and even some girls] don't like a book about bugs and also monsters. [2 of a little boys favorite things]. you certainly wouldn't want this for a bedtime story, but for daytime reading, it's great.

I Love Big Bugs!
It has been fun to share the information in this book - Monster Bugs - with the five year olds in my class. In addition to non-fiction literature, the text contained vocabulary they were unfamiliar with.
