RA1100 Threaded Router Template Guide Adapter

Worked great on my Bosch router, with the new set of Porter Cable style template guides.

Perfect fit on my Bosch router. This makes adapting to my router templates easy. I can now use my Porter Cable dovetail jig with no problems. To install on my Bosch router there is a spring release lever on the top of the router base that you pull sideways allowing you to slip the template guide in. The adapter locks in place once you let go of the lever.

This fit my Bosch 1617 EVS router perfectly. It was tight and not loose.

Bought this so I can use threaded template bushings from different suppliers rather than the substandard press-fit bushings that came with my Bosch router. It works well enough with quick change bushing adapter on the router and Powertec threaded bushings. There is a minuscule bit of play between the bushings and this adapter but easily overcome by tightening bushing threads and use of centering cone. Overall finish is poor but in line with the other Bosch bushing components and inline with price paid. I have only 1 router so okay with making some compromises in getting it to do everything. I like my Bosch 1817 router a lot but Bosch’s weakness in the template bushing area means my next (and smaller) router will unfortunately not be Bosch.

This is the part you need to use PC template guides on PC dovetail machines. You do not need the Bosch PR010 (or a centering pin). Remove the base plate, seat the lock ring (see below) in the adapter, seat the adapter in the router and reinstall the base plate. Now, you are ready to use your nifty new palm router, but suppose you have lost the template guide that came with your PC dovetail machine. if you buy the PC 42000 9 piece template guide set, none of the guides, in particular the 5/8 OD guide will work with the PC dovetail machine templates. The "distance past base" is too long, i.e., the cylinder will extend below the template. You will need to machine the guide to slightly less than 1/4 inch FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE ROUTER BASE PLATE. I did it easily with an angle grinder cutoff wheel, but I measured 1/4" from the base of the guide. Once I screwed it in to the mount it extended only 1/8" from the base plate. Enough, but making it more likely to jump the template and causing all sorts of bad things. If you are just looking for a guide for your PC template, buy the PC 42046 guide and the PC 42237 lock ring available through amazon, but not prime.

A must have Bosch router accessory. This part comes as part of the Bosch template guide set, but comments are pretty negative about Bosch's template guides. This, along with the RA1125 adapter, allow use of the common threaded style template guides made by many mfr's. I use it with a 1617EVS, which has been an excellent router (I have 2, one in a table and one for hand held). Be sure to get a base plate centering cone as well (different mfr's will work) so the bit is centered in the template guide.

I have the Bosch 1617EVSPK and bought this adapter to use with the guide bushing that came with my Leigh dovetail jig, which I've been playing around with for about a month now. When I bought my Bosch router combo kit 11 years ago, it came with the RA1126 Quick Change Template Guide Adapter, which this RA1100 fits into. I'm sorry to hear that some Bosch router users didn't get the RA1126 in their combo kits. Anyway, for me, this works perfectly as described. No issues.

This was to put on my Bosch plunge router with the mounting part already installed. When mounted it was locked in off center and couldn’t be adjusted. I thought I could offset the bushing but it didn’t allow for bushing adjustment because it’s got a recess that they mount into. A bigger issue is that commercially available bushings don’t work on it unless they exceptionally long because they mount so high up into this part. It went back as totally useless.
