Q: Does it have a means of attachment to a metal picture hanger somewhere on it? Need to mount to a painted wall in a house.

There is a magnet but I pulled it off to use it on my desk instead. The back of the frame has a lipped edge so you could use the elegant thumb-tack balancing act to hang it precariously and it looks to me like you could hot glue or crazy glue a metal picture hanger on the cardboard back of the board but you'd need to make sure the nails or tacks in the wall extend far enough to clear the lip to insert into the picture hanger attachment. The board itself is very, very light so that's not a problem, just stability as you write and erase.

Q: How can it have a silver frame if it is frameless?

The silver is on the board as a border. It is not a frame

Q: Is the board magnetic, or does it require adhesive mounting? I plan on using this on the side of a metal filing cabinet.

The board itself is magnetic but does not come with magnets on the back so you won't be able to put it on a fridge or anything like that. You could easily buy adhesive magnets to stick on the back though.
