Once in a Blue Moon Lodge: A Novel

This author is all about humor and women sharing life's difficulties together. I love the way she writes about strong resilient lives shared together.

I was delighted to rediscover this author! This novel did not disappoint.

This Lorna Landvik book is good and follows in the "Patty Jane's House of Curl" tradition. The book is really a long lesson in tolerance. The book deals with eating disorders, mental illness, brain damage, divorce and remarriage, pregnancy without marriage, and a host of other social topics. It doesn't delve into anything too deeply. It is a sweet, easy, quick read if that is what you are looking for.

Author has a good sense of humor but I couldn’t really find a plot in the book. However I have not finished it so perhaps it will be better as I go along.

I found the book to be easily readable, however, the flipping back and forth between decades was a bit disconcerting. Maybe I am just getting too old and cannot follow the story line as well as I used to ??? But I did enjoy the return of the characters, with an ending.

Reading Once in a Blue Moon Lodge is like paddling one set of rapids after another, encountering scenes of breathtaking honesty, beauty, mirth and heartache - wanting the journey to go on forever.

Like a beautiful cream puff, I had no I idea I was getting a full meals worth of calories. Meaning I set the book down laughing, enchanted with the joy of people living well. Then in open minutes I find myself realizing how dense, complicated and involved the characters had become. I learned a lot and laughed even more. Great read. Thank you Lorna for shining a spotlight on what is right and funny at this time and in Minnesota.

Good book, if you’re a fan of hers, you will enjoy.
