A nice book featuring the artwork of the late great Jack Davis, who you usually would associate with Cracked Magazine's rival Mad.There is another volume in this series featuring John Severin, but for now it is available only in digital format.

I ordered this in very used contittion...and I got the cheapest book of this title out there.......For the contents, I for one do not blame the artististy of the late great MR JACK DAVIS....he did what he could with very, very mediore very bland gag writing from CRACKED MAG.

Bargain! A constant source of inspiration. Cartooning at its finest and a real treat for Jack Davis fans or aspiring cartoonists. Lovely collection of black and white strips. Highly recommended!!!

This book contains some of the work that Jack Davis did for Cracked Magazine. Jack Davis is better known for his work in MAD Magazine, and many many other publications. Great book.

ジャック・ディビスを知っている人ととなると今では余程のマニアになってしまうが、アメリカのイラストレーションの歴史に残る偉大なアーティストだ。今は亡き米国風刺漫画雑誌『MAD』のメイン・アーティストとして頭角を出した人。その影響は大きい。昔だけど日本でもこの人の絵に影響を受けたマンガ家やイラスト屋が一杯いた。個人的にこの人はカラーの1枚絵が好きだが、この本には過去の雑誌に載ったペン描きひとコマ漫画？の再録が主体です。しかし今見ると古臭いというか、これが描かれた時から古臭かったのかもしれない。これはある種の漫画というジャンルの宿命かもしれないが…気になったのはマンガに出てくる人達の服のセンスが戦前のアメリカ人のスタイルで、ワザと時代的な特徴を消してるからかもしれない？それとも彼の頭の中はある時代で止まったままだったのか？まあ、そんな事どうでも良い事なんだろう。過ぎ去った過去の文化として受け入れれば良い事だ…この本はジャック・ディビスという偉大なアーティストの仕事のほんの一部なのです。出来ればどこかの出版社に彼のカラー作品や60年代、70年代に沢山描かれたコメディ映画のポスター絵、有名人の似顔絵！などまとめた豪華な大型本を出して欲しい。
