These work fine.
These are the same sawhorse brackets that have been around since I was a kid and I'm almost 70. The ones I got are not black, they're galvanized steel. They're not contractor grade, but they're not flimsy either. They're about the same gauge as good framing brackets and you can't bend them with your hands. I had no problem with the fit, the 2x4s slid right in, but I used dry lumber. Maybe the people having problems are using green or wet lumber, which would also make them loose when the lumber dries out. They're not Chinese made, they're made in Fulton, IL, just like they always have been. I even left the top screws out so I can fold them and put them away and they're still very sturdy. I'm very happy with these.

Decent for the money
Already gave a review on this a while ago I don't know why Amazon keeps on throwing it on my page telling me to give a review.

Definitely not heavy duty
These work fine but are pretty thin. When screwing into the two by fours, the metal bends. Suits my purpose fine, but would not rely on these for a regular working saw-horse.

Work OK
These work ok but are a bit on the flimsy side. They bend easily when placing the screws in them. They don’t open as wide as I would like either and the result is that the saw horse tends to fall over easily. They got me out of a bind so I can’t complain too much.

Absolute Garbage.
These are so thin and weak that you can't even tighten the screws without bending them. The first time I tried to use the sawhorse I built from these, the brackets crumpled like the recycled beer cans they appear to be made from, and the sawhorse collapsed to the side. This was with only 50lbs. on it, which should be well within the capabilities of any decent sawhorse. Definitely do NOT recommend.
