Now, for the first time, the three parts of this Avengers trilogy are brought together in brand-new restorations from the original negatives! "A NINE-LETTER WORD BEGINNING WITH C..."CYBERNAUT... the most efficient of killers, brainchild of electronics genius Clement Armstrong (Michael Gough) and defeated (so it seemed at the time) by John Steed and Emma Peel. But the Cybercasts would be back... resurrected by suave but diabolical Paul Beresford (Peter Cushing) and, finally, by double agent Felix Kane (Robert Lang) to exact revenge on Steed and his new companions, Prudery and Gambit. Feature the Avengers New Avengers episodes: The Cybercasts Return of the Cybercasts. The Last of the Cybercasts...?? This set also features the ability to watch the episodes as a Vintage Experience an option to play all three episodes with ad breaks and contemporary commercials.

Clear and Sharp, though the first episode is in black and white
The single disc arrives in a slim line box which is always good new with constant pressure on shelf space. The first episode is in black and white but clear and sharp. The second is in colour also clear and sharp but with the same robotic cybernaut. Mrs Peel has a newer Lotus Elan but under rapid acceleration it leaves a faint haze of blue smoke from the exhaust, burning oil I guess, unlike Steed’s blower Bentley which doesn’t. The third episode is the New Avengers so no longer features Diana Rigg but while Steed remains, he is joined by Joanna Lumley/Purdey and Gareth Hunt/Gambit. The cybernauts are the same but the story does progress. Part of what I like about watching old TV and films are the cars and there are plenty to see from a time when cars looked different from each other rather than all much the same, as with the colours of them as well. The Bentley is retired for the New Avengers and Steed has an automatic XJ12 with seriously flared wheel arches. Purdey drives an MGB which I thought had a 1976 reg though the episode was made in 1979 yet the opening scene shows a carpark with lots of much older cars? No surprise they all got smashed up – I guess production couldn’t afford anything newer. I thought Diana Rigg was incredibly beautiful but I think Joanna Lumley was more so and either acted better or had better dialogue. Steed looks the same but older. Gambit was the bloke that did a coffee add.Having watched this blu-ray I’ll now have to make another purchase – but it will be the New Avengers rather than the original and which for some reason is only available on DVD.

Clear, Crisp and Colourful
I mostly bought it for the 2nd episode - The Return of the Cybernauts and especially 3rd episode - The Last of the Cybernauts. For the Last of the Cybernauts the picture is fantastic as I have never seen such clarity in this episode. I saw the this on TV a while a go and it is nowhere near as crisp, clear and colourful. Even the outdoor locations is so sharp you think it was filmed a few months ago. The sound is a wee bit to much on the bass and does not feel clear enough but it could be my sound system. I did have a problem as it kept freezing every so often when the breaks appeared but then it could be my blu ray player which is older than this Blu ray disc. If your a fan of the TV Avengers and the Cybernauts then this is a must have.

A great blu-ray. But it's only Region B
These three episodes span 3 Avenger's incarnations. Watching them together after such a long time is incredible. They are very much of their time and yet...In the 1960's the term cyber was exotic. Who knew what it meant? Today everyone does. The attitudes are sort of sexist...and a little racist as well. To see Mrs Peel walk about in a purse and gloves...how things have changed for the better. But Patrick MacNee is very much Steed no matter what and that is a joy.If you are a fan, you are in for a treat.Just be warned. They are listed as "Region Free". They are not. They are locked in Region B. That said; they are a joy to watch. Never have they look as good as they do on this blu-ray. Highly recommend.

Great transfer, but...
The Cybernauts are my favourite Avengers episodes so I didn't think twice about buying this compilation on Blu-ray.Let me say that I am delighted with the quality of the transfer. Great picture with sharpness and colour spot on.But...on my Blu-ray player the disc froze every time there was a chapter change requiring me to press play on my remote to start things going again. That said, when I tried it on my other (newer) player it worked perfectly.I have no idea why it does this but if you are thinking of buying it is something to be aware of.If it hadn't have been for that glitch I would have given it 5 stars.

Excellent reproduction
A really good DVD with excellent sound and video remastering. In response to another review regarding cars featured in The New Avengers episode. This was produced in 1976, hence the cars appropriate to that year (and earlier). It wasn’t produced in 1979.

High camp, fun, nostalgic family adventure
This is superb. The picture quality is so sharp and there is an added bonus of watching all the episodes with vintage adverts for each era. Pure nostalgia and high camp adventure. Classic TV with stories made to entertain and not give out a PC lecture at the end. This is a MUST buy...you won't regret it!

Not Region free.
Advertised as Region free. The disc that arrived was Region B. This makes it unplayable on most dvd blue ray players in North America.

Klassieke scifi spy reeks

It's not region free. Region B.
It states Region Free but, apparently that is not the case. Will be returning for a refund.
