Thrilled to find the original illustrations
I loved this book growing up - the edition I had was originally my grandmother's, from the 30's or very early 40's - and one of my favorite parts of the book were the illustrations. This Christmas, I wanted to get the same book to give my niece to go with the Raggedy Ann doll I was giving her, and was thrilled to find that the book was still available with the same illustrations that I grew up with. Even the picture on the cover is the same. While my niece is still a little young to really enjoy the story at 15 months old, my sister says she loves looking at the pictures in the book with her doll.

a good gift to go with a Raggedy Ann doll
I love these stories, but I am 71 years old. There may not be enough action for today's children. However, I made Raggedy Ann dolls for my grandchildren and gave them the books so they would know the doll's true personality. The rag dolls are great; their joints allow them to sit in little chairs at tea-parties. We've had great fun.My oldest granddaughter chose the fabric for her Raggedy Ann's clothing, a lavender flowered dress and a pink apron with large ladybugs. I'm used to it now. She also chose a brown yarn for the hair and wanted it a bit longer than is normal. I liked that because the original Raggedy Ann did not have orange hair. If another granddaughter wants orange hair -- or green -- I will agree. And I'll get used to that too.

7 year old daughter loved it.
7 year old daughter loved it... still a classic. Plus hearing her read it brought back memories of my mother reading it to my sister and I when we were kids. Well made book - my daughter commented on how the pages were thicker and how nice the illustrations are.

Just what I was looking for!
I wanted a more or less original version of Raggedy Ann to give my granddaughter along with a doll I made for her. The story is the same as the version my mother had, the one I grew up with, and it needed to describe Ann as the doll appears. This fits the bill!

Collecter's item
When searching for a book from my childhood, I came across this book, which included Johnny Gruelle's complete story of Raggedy Ann and Andy and the Fuzzywump. (The book I was looking for was a collection of excerpts from his books). This book is beautifully illustrated by Mr. Gruelle's son, Worth. The colored and black and white illustrations are just gorgeous. Published originally in 1939, this edition is from 1961, and the book is of such a good quality that the pages are clean and white, the illustrations bright, and the cover is good, too. I just love looking through it. I am not a collector, but for those who are, this is a gem.
