This is one of the easiest sets ups for a raspberry pie, worth the money!
Don’t let the 1 star push you away. This was a very straight on easy to put together joystick. If you have a raspberry pie and you have the retro pie installed you plug in and assign each button and joystick directions then you’re done easy. “I like to make stuff” on YouTube can help with all of the other things you would need for this kind of project.

you get what you paid for
i got what i paid for. it works, but the buttons had to be sanded on parts where the factory moulding left scrap plastic tabs causing the buttons to stick. not perfect, but it’s a decent kit. i was also able to use sanwa octogonal restricter plates

USB Encoders crash EmulationStation
There are a bunch of USB encoders being sold through these different Chinese vendors that do not work and they crash emulationstation. I used to order EG Starts kits all the time but 3 of them in a row had USB encoders that were problematic. It took me forever to figure out what the issue was. The telltale sign is that the red LED light on the encoder boards themselves will flash constantly. EmulationStation will fail to boot, or lock up as soon as it starts. The vendors know these boards are junk at this point. There are too many complaints. I would avoid this seller entirely as well as EG Starts

Needs improvement
Buttons are terrible they stick often u have to tap them from underneath control panel . Otherwise would be a nice plug and play and 3 led didn't light up

Looks great, but....
Buttons were really easy to install. The LED lighting looks great. The joystick works perfectly, however I had some issues with the buttons. One didn’t work at all, and another lasted about 5 minutes before it started sticking and became unusable. I love the look of them however they are kinda hit and miss as far as working.

Doesn't work well with a raspberry pi4
This set was very easy to install, however the raspberry pi4 had a lot of trouble recognizing these encoders. Even when performing a usb device list it would show both devices with the same id# emulationstation would crash with a controller config error log
