Not always a tank mount
Put it on a 2025 KLX300r. It will not fit on the tank screw. I ended up mounting it on the front number plate bolt with a spacer. Actually looks better than tucked in front of the gas tank and clearance is no issue.

This Really is a Good Product
This is a great product. Don't get caught up on the instructions - they're terrible. And if you watch the video link, you will get deterred very quickly. You don't need to remove the gas tank and all that other craziness. Follow your spark plug wire up to its solenoid and wrap around there (check the pics I posted). The tach DOES work. You need to set it to the proper setting - the instructions are actually good for only this - "If you have a battery or lighting - set RPM (2P:1r)".
