Only One Woof

In our family's opinion, the James Herriot stories for children are his best works, and Only One Woof is no exception. Beautifully illustrated pages sweep the reader into the English countryside, and the British storyteller begins. Only One Woof is both humorous and poignant. The sheep dog, Gyp, grows up to be a faithful but silent companion to one of Herriot's veterinarian clients. The only time Gyp gives voice brings a smile to parent and child as they read together, bringing the reader to wonder what goes on in the quick minds of their canine companions? Highly recommended for animal lovers of all ages!

Beautiful illustrations and unique story. This is a classic story from my childhood. I coordinate a therapy dog reading program for children at several of the Seattle Public Libraries. The story showcases herding breed dogs, of which we have several in our program. The kids love reading about the same kind of dog that they are actually reading to!

This is such a cute story. I bought it because I love James Herriot and have a collection of his books. I bought this particular one so I could read it out loud to the children during our church's Children's Story time. It was a big hit.

I read this book to my kids when they were little and now I'm reading it to my seven Grandkids. I highly recommend this book. Our Grandkids range in age from two to ten and each one enjoys listening to this book. The older ones could read it but they like to sit back and listen.

I bought this book quite some years ago when my children were small and passed it on to a family member.When I saw it on the website I just had to buy it AGAIN!

Again a great book, perfect for my 6 year old daughter who has reached fluent reading. A nice length of story. So impressed we bought the set of about 6 of these books, just lovely stories. Glad we came across these gems.
