The original, the best, made in USA (they say) and exactly what I wanted.
I am a hobbyist, gardener, handyman and tinkerer, and I have all sorts of uses for grommets and snap fasteners. The 405 Tool does it all. I bought the tool with the #2 Die stamping set, which included the anti-tip base plate, the afore-mentioned die set and a couple hundred brass grommets/washers, Good deal. However, I also want the #0 and #1 die sets (on Amazon’s at around $60/each, and the snap fitting die set (unknown cost), and the necessary consumable grommets and snaps. Costly. But, this is professional grade equipment for the volume I anticipate su

THE FOLLOWING REVIEW IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU TRY TO PURCHASE THE PRONG WASHER GROMMETS FROM STIMPSON TO USE WITH MACHINE. GET OUT YOUR WALLET !!!These dont work with the 405 unless you contact Stimpson and purchase the die for the 405 called a "Punch & Press" (or something like that). Here is the catch, they want $305.00 for the die and you can not buy them online. This did not sit well with me after buying the machine with assortment of self cutting gromet (which work great but no prongs to hold from spinning.)I feel commited to the 405 system now and even Stimpson said alot of people get confused about this, daaa!If Amazon is not going to offer the die to press the grommets then dont sell the damn grommets or atleast explain that after spending $300.00 on the maching now you will have to spend another 300 to press the grommets!!!

Well built.
Works well. I'm new to using grommets, but I had 200+ to do and heard to avoid cheap presses. I've pressed 90 grommets and all came out well. The tool feels solid and well built. Only downside is that it took a week for it to arrive. I'm using it to make a 11'x18' shade cover.

Stimpson 405
A well made, heavy duty bench top manual grommet machine. The self piercing grommets work great in most fabrics and eliminate the punching step. Definitely worth a hard look if you need a manual grommet machine.
