do they have food in their container or do we have to feed them?

They provide instructions. No food. I feed ours cricket water gel and food. But you can easily just cut up apples celery even grind up dog food.

How long can they live without food or water?

I put them in Oatmeal with egg crate, carrots for moisture and food. You do not want to starve your feeder bugs.

Will they infest my home if they escape?

They are non evasive species-They need extreme heat to reproduce and cannot climb on walls or fly. I have had some get loose before because I dropped the keeper. All they did was go to corners and die. they don't stink like crickets and so much easier to keep alive-best feeder for reptiles.
