Works great for Classic, with a couple quick modifications
I bought a classic Aeron a few years ago, for a price I won't share to spare you some envy. It had been used in a wood-shop or something, from all the sawdust I had to clean off, and one armrest rotated freely. I looked at replacement parts for it when I bought it, but it would have cost about what the entire chair did, so I just put up with it.With working from home most of this year, and at least half of next year on my schedule, I decided it was finally time to fix the arm adjustments. Happily, I found these, which were much less expensive.Since I have a classic chair (from 2000, even), the arms are one piece of metal, not 2 like newer Aerons. The slot in the back that holds the end of the plastic indexing plate is a little different, too, so I had to trim the tab of each, and cut the plastic washers off of the indexing plate entirely. I also had to remove both torsion springs from the arms, as the spring is built into the new plates.Even with those, it only took me 20 minutes to replace both sides, and now they work as they should. I also took the time to remove the back and tighten the arm height adjustments, so they'll stop sliding down over time, and replaced the seat foam as well. It's like a new chair.

Another great Amazon find. Fantastic way to refresh/upgrade Herman Miller Aeron Classic.
I wish this item was promoted more when searching for replacement parts for the Herman Miller Aeron Classic, because bravo guys, this is what I needed. I have an older herman miller aeron classic with the torsion spring in the arm rests. There's a reason they aren't there in later models. They fail. The springs get soft and the arms get way to easy to pivot and end up loose. These did require a little bit of modification on my end, there is a small nub near the rear of the index plate that I had to shave down a bit so it would fit this older arm rest version. It was easy and the instruction were clear. I definitely suggest using a torque wrench when doing this, or any other, replacement or upgrade on your chair. These chairs are engineered to the teeth, much like cars, and the nuts and bolts serve a lot more purpose than just holding things in place. The package came with easy to follow instructions and all the hardware. USE THE NEW BOLTS. At this price point, I bought a set for both arm rests even though I really was only having issues with one of them and now the arm rests are easy to adjust, but stay in place when I want them.

This is only one, not two
For 40 bucks I would have expected one pair, not just one. Totally thought this was kit for both.

Modifications Required to be Used on Classic Aeron but Still Works
Some modifications have to be made to work on the classic Aeron but works much better than the part that comes with the chair.

Will not fit classic Aeron chair without modification
I bought as a replacement for my classic Aeron chair that has a spring for pivoting. This is for a later model without a spring. I removed spring and modified arm index end to fit into bottom rear key of arm pad support. Works perfect, the movement is different than original(harder due to torsion spring removal but smoother) I like it as much.

Used for older Herman Miller Aeron Size B chair
I purchased a used fully loaded Herman Miller Aeron Size B chair for $400 in February and there were a couple of fixes needed on the chair that I knew would not be a problem for me to replace. One of those problems areas was the left armrest. Something was definitely damaged because it freely swung from side to side. I researched the part that I needed and learned that to make this one work, there’s a bit that needs to be removed from this part to make it work for older chair models. I once again re-remembered the hard way not to use a razor blade when trying to modify the part. I know fully well that you should never cut towards yourself, but sometimes I turn off that mental blaring alarm and do it anyways. A razor just isn’t the right type of tool for the thickness of the plastic. I found out that a hacksaw is much more effective at modifying the part. After the part was modified to my satisfaction and then everything was put back together, the handle once again had the three firm place settings. Even though the other handle didn’t need to be fixed, I’d decided to replace that one as well, just because.

Perfect fit
Perfect replacement for the worn out parts. My chair armrests don't pivot freely anymore.

Aeron 2007
Fit perfect, no modification required. Took 5-7 min per side. Like new stiffness, with three distinct set points.
