Sharp and Great Handle
Good quality. Sharp blade. The handle fits my hand perfectly. If you are a beginner you should choose the smallest detail knife. It’s sharp and easy to use.

best carver for the money
The cheaper carving knives are pathetic compared to Flexcut. The more expensive ones are better, but not so much so that I feel they warrant the price. Overall, it's hard to beat the quality, edge retention, comfort, and value of a Flexcut knife...FOR THE MONEY. The closest competitor is OCC, but good luck getting your hands on one. I tried several vendors and they gouged you on prices when they had them in stock. This 1.75" rouging blade is the most versatile size I own too. I find myself doing 3/4 of the work with this blade. It's just big enough for removing a lot of wood, but still small enough for most roughing and a lot more detail than I expected. This size blade is also easier to maintain than the really small ones. I've had this a long time and have never had to sharpen it. I just hone it about once per hour of use and it's held up phenomenally! Overall, this is my go-to brand and I'm glad I chose it, but someday if I get better, I may splurge for a Helvie. My carving mentor, Doug Linker can't be wrong about Helvie, but until then Flexcut will get all my money.

Nice knife for the beginner
I'm new to woodworking with chisels and knives. This knife came super-sharp and ready to use right out of the package! The handle fits my hand well, and it does exactly what I bought it for.

Great knife
Seems to be working great and everything was accurately explained in the description of the product. It’s a great quality knife and I’d recommend it, no complaints

Nice basic knife, but dulled quickly
Knife starts out nice and sharp but it dulled before I finished my first whittling project, a simple bird, on a 2"x1.5"x1" boxwood block so I'm seriously doubting their claims to the hardness of the steel. I need to go grab my whetstone and sharpen it back up (fyi NEVER use a kitchen knife sharpener!). The sides of the blade have been nicely hand polished on a buffing wheel, the varnish on the handle only had one small flaw in it that I got rid of, and the leather case for the knife was well made and fits the knife perfectly. The handle itself is very comfortable and the knife can be used for long periods without any fatigue or discomfort. Overall I'd call it a nice basic knife even though it dulled sooner than I expected.

Came sharp, cut well
The knife came sharp. I used to carve a pattern on a knife handle that worked out well.

Simply one of the best
I bought this knife a few months ago to replace an older xacto type carving knife which had a loose blade, I wanted a few months of time to get to know the knife before I wrote a review. First Impressions: right out of the box you can tell its a good quality tool, the blade was mirror fine, the handle was solid, and the whole piece was well constructed. Carving: After a few glides on a strop, I could make deep cuts with little effort, the blade is substantial enough to hold up to heavy push cuts and nimble enough to make silky smooth detail cuts even when the grain isnt helping out. the edge holds for quite a while, I usually have to remind myself to stop cutting and strop it every now and again, it just doesn't snag or slow like other knives do, and that perfect mirror finish makes keeping it sharp a very easy task. the ergonomic shape is also wonderful. not just for comfort, but also for knife control. the handle lets you hold the knife firmly in almost any orientation, which I have found greatly reduces slippage when doing cuts at odd angles, or if (god forbid) your piece breaks while carving. Drawbacks: the only drawback I would consider, is that the blade itself is glued (probably epoxy) into the handle. I do have some reservations about this, since glue and epoxy are not as good at absorbing impulse forces as something like a rivet would be. since this knife wouldnt be used for high impact work anyway this isnt really a problem per-se, but if you enjoy high quality tools that will outlive your great grandkids, then this knife probably wont last that long. tl:dr it is a great knife, for a great price, and if you keep it maintained it will last for a good long time.

Great Detail Knife
I like it. Flexcut offers an affordable and quality knife that won't break your pocketbook. Good steel, small enough to get in the tough spots and it comes sharp enough to do surgery. The handle is contoured to fit your hand comfortably, which makes it a joy to use. My other flexcut tools hold an edge well with regular stropping, I'm sure this knife will as well.

This knife is exactly what you want for the finer details when whittling or wood carving. My husband was so impressed with it he has recommended it to many others. It is lightweight, comfortable to hold and does exactly what you expect of it. Great quality and price. Highly recommended.
