Well. This is unfortunate.
I was expecting more from these loudspeakers. I find the mid range frequencies only moderately acceptable, treble and bass are sub par. In a nut shell, these speakers just aren't aggressive enough on their own.

Detailed Sound, Beautiful, and well made--but you better have an equalizer
Pros: Very detailed sound, very well made, beautiful (and interesting looking) in wood finish.Cons: Expensive, overpowering midrange, especially at low volumes, other options are just as good for less money.I only listen at low and medium volumes, so can't speak to high dB performance. At the volumes I listen, an equalizer that could reduce the mid-tones (or boost the bass and treble) was a necessity, as the 4" midrange driver just over-powers the other frequencies. If you can take care of that issue, you will like the detailed sound coming out of this speaker. My real problem, and the reason I returned them, is my JBL Studio 530s, which I bought new for $239 directly from JBL during one of their sales, sounds just as good, and does not have the overpowering midrange problem.
