Acetyl L-Carnitine 500 mg, Dietary Supplement, Amino Acid Support for Brain Health and Antioxidants, 120 Veggie Capsules, 120 Day Supply

Here is a story about my experience with Acetyl L-Carnitine for my workout regiment. It's worth the read if you're considering it for more than just neurological help. I hope you get though it! Several months ago I started a workout routine that involves me going to a rock climbing gym for hours at time. The biggest problem I encountered was hitting a wall after an hour and a half or so and unable to really push myself further. I talked to my brother, who has been a major body builder for years, and he recommended this product. I was skeptical as I've tried many other supplements in the past, even ones that cause rushes of energy, and nothing really got me past the wall. The energy ones were nice too, but, rushes of energy or not, my hands and body were unable to support the constant push of strength that rock climbing requires. I ordered this Acetyl L-Carnitine mainly because it's not only inexpensive compared to some other brands, it's made by Jarrow, who's name I recognize as being top-tiered according to a lot of reading I've done, and they're capsules not tablets. I know Acetyl L-Carnitine has quite a benefit if taking daily, but I'm not necessarily after all the benefits it provides since it can get expensive. I take two capsules, 1000mgs, and a protein bar before I leave for the rock gym. I think it's good to mention I've always had a good quality protein bar before I go to the gym so the energy from it kicks in about an hour after I get there making it so I can push a bit harder for a bit longer. The first time I took these tablets after that hour and a half mark I just felt good... a bit fatigued from the constant push, but otherwise my muscles responded well. I went hard for three hours that day and couldn't figure out why, or how. I didn't think such a supplement capable of that so I didn't even consider it. The next time I went to the rock gym, two days later, I failed to take this supplement since I wasn't really in the habit of taking it yet. I had a very hard time at the rock gym that day. I crashed into my physical wall like most other times and longed for whatever made my last visit different. I thought about these supplements at that point with dim suspicion that they might have caused it. Two days later I went back to the rock gym and was certain to take the two Acetyl L-Carnitine capsules that time. Shockingly my energy level maintained and I was able to push for hours until my hands were litterly unable to support my weight. Not because of pain or me just being weary, but because my muscles hit their end point and were completely done. I've taken 1000mgs of Acetyl L-Carnitine ever since and have not hit a wall since then. Maybe it's the combination of the protein bar I eat along with the Acetyl L-Carnitine, but, either way, with results like this, I couldn't be happier! I will ALWAYS take this before I go to the rock gym going forward. HIGHLY recommended!

Acetyl L-Carnitine is my favorite supplement and Jarrow is my favorite brand of it. With some other brands, I've noticed a difference in quality the pills from month to month. I attributed the slight changes in energy to general lifestyle factors until I purchased a bottle of the Jarrow brand and noticed way more consistency in my energy levels. This is a high quality product at a fair price. ---Gym---- The best way to describe the effects that the Acetyl L-Carnitine has for gym performance is: you have more energy to get passed your physical wall. I notice that when i'm lifting a particularly heavy weight, I have the necessary energy (both mental and physical) to get through the set. When I forget to take it for a couple of days, I notice that I fatigue much sooner in my normal workout. People think of these as "body building" supplements and, thus, many people shy away from taking it out of fear of becoming some huge steroid monster. In reality, Acetyl L-Carnitine provides a gentle increase in energy allowing you to get more out of your workouts. ---Mental Acuity--- On top of providing a physical boost in energy, I've noticed that this supplement also provides a mental boost in energy. After a long day of work and staring at a computer screen all day, I still feel energized enough to work out, read a book, etc. Pros - No noticeable side effects from daily use - Easy to digest - More energy in the gym - More mental energy - Consistent quality from month to month Cons - None

Good supplement that supports brain health.

Carnitine is an amazing supplement. Since turning 30, I have become obsessed with optimizing my health. First, I started taking carnitine for claudication. Since starting carnitine, I have had very few episodes of exercise intolerance (prior to that, I was having serious problems with this and my legs would tense up whenever I would walk more than a few blocks). In terms of appetite suppression, carnitine allows me to not obsess about food or have too many blood sugar spikes all day. Although, I do notice that its effects wear off after about 8 hours. Jarrows is an excellent brand and the only brand of carnitine I will take after experimenting with Whole Foods generic L-Carnitine this year. There is a noticeable difference with Jarrows and it's worth paying more. My mood and overall energy has totally improved since taking carnitine, although it's worth noting that I also attempt to eat paleo about 70% of the time and I also started supplementing vitamin D3. But I do think that the carnitine is helping because I feel different when I don't take it. Highly recommended!

I've been taking this product for more than two weeks now. I take 1000 mg on my workout days. I definitely noticed a difference. Normally, if I work out earlier in the day, I usually spend the rest of the day super tired, wanting to go to sleep. If I take this product, however, I am very energetic for the rest of the day. I am also very productive and focused on my studies. However, there are some side effects that I observed. If I take l-carnitine, when I'm not working out, I am a little too alert and I think really fast. The over-alertness creates a mental fog (sort of like an ADD feeling). As a result, I don't take l-carnitine if I'm not working out that day. One other thing I realized is that, my dreams have become very vivid and memorable after taking this product -to the extent that I once got confused if something happened in a dream or reality. The sleep is usually very peaceful and relaxing. Other than that, I'm very happy with this product as a workout supplement. However, I am considering giving it a break for a few days, because of the dream side effect.

So far, it's been good for me. I use this same brand name for other supplements as well.

Bought this to address some palpitations I had started to experience. The supplement helped but then I noticed other worrying issues, when explored further and upon checking this supplement in various internet sites realised that if you have existing hypertension this supplement may well aggravate this , therefore I have had to stop using this.
