You will need to trim it, but trim AFTER you form it to your mouth!
Overall would recommend. but, like most of these types of things, the instructions are vague at best. I gagged when I put it in my mouth BEFORE forming it, so I cut it down. But then after doing all the form fitting, I ended up with a guard that only covered my four front teeth, HA!. So... I recommend:1. Boil in water for 20 seconds, recommend chopsticks or something to keep it from sticking to sides of pots. Do not hold it with the chopsticks, instead, just impede it from moving around.2. grab with spoon. Be careful to make sure it doesn't fold into itself, cause the plastic used will meld to itself.3. dip quickly into tap water for about 1 sec4. put in mouth, use tongue, fingers, and bottom teeth to form it. important Note: when using bottom teeth, don't press so hard because it will go thru, and also this will create grooves your bottom teeth will naturally fit into, so make sure your pressing up in a comfy position.5. using scissors or a razor, trim the parts of the guard that are uncomfy (I had to trim a part that went way over my gums, and a part of the top that got wierd.I am told you can re-boil it to try again, but I didn't do that.Happy teeth-not-grinding!

Really Wanted This To Work
This would be great if it worked as advertised but there are a few issues. First, it comes with two "large" trays and two "small" trays for you to pick the right size for your mouth but even the "large" tray did not reach my back teeth. They even mention trimming the ends if it's too long. Don't do that. After dipping in boiling water and a brief cold water bath, you pop the select tray in your mouth, bite down and try to fit it to your teeth. I did this as per the instructions but, as I said, it came up a bit short. It's a good thing they include two of each size as you'll need to probably try both to get it right. But they'd be better off including four of one size as two attempts is not enough. My first attempt was ok but i bit down too hard and the finished guard kept falling out. The second attempt was better but was even rounder and smaller, though it stayed in. Nevertheless, I tried sleeping with the second one last night and, you know what? It kind of worked. It stayed in and kind of did the job. But I have little hope this little guard will last long. To begin with, during the night it changed shape. Probably because of body warmth, the back part kind of flattened out and ended in a different shape and position than it started the night. t was almost a ball by the morning.A larger starting tray would be a good idea and more than two of the same size to give you more tries would be my advice to the company. I did try to remake the first one today. I put it back in the boiling water to try and reshape it. It did change shape but it was still too short. I may try it later. Though it seemed a bit cloudy after this try and yesterday it stayed clear throughout the process, so that makes me a little concerned about sleeping with it in my mouth.By the way, it is very comfortable. If only all the other issues worked out better I would recommend this thing. As to value, well, it's inexpensive but if you can't get it to work, what does it matter? I gave it two stars because it's close to what I need. I'd give it three if it reached the back teeth and four or five if it worked completely.

Best mouthguard I've tried
I've been a nighttime teeth grinder for years and have tried at least 7 different mouth guards. This is the most comfortable mouth guard I've tried! They're moldable so they stay in place, allowing me to sleep through the night. They're easy to clean and affordable. They seem to be pretty durable too, so I think they'll last a while. I'll be buying these again.

High quality
i can tell it is high quality the material used is clear and doesn't feel plastic it feels sort of like soft jelly but firm. The first time i tried to boil the guard it melted although i followed the directions i thought. A tip is once you notice the guard getting soft once you put it in the hot water take it out, the first time i did it the guard melted to the pan oops... but the second time i got it just right. thank god. It molded to my teeth and it is comfortable on my teeth it doesn't fall out, however my mouth still doesn't close so i drool on my pillow and my throat gets dry but i have a smaller mouth

Still a bit thick
Definitely not as thin as it appears on this box. Better than some, but still thick. It works for me grinding my teeth at night. I would say it's nothing like the thin version of invisilign (example) more like a sporting mouth guard thickness.

Helps my Fiancee Sleep at night.
This product has helped my fiancee sleep at night. She is prone to grinding her teeth and this product has really helped her with that issue. Her jaw had been hurting because of this grinding issue. The directions are easy to follow and well made.

They work great and I love the different sizes.
I really like that this box comes with two sizes because I thought I would need smaller ones for my mouth but actually the large ones fit me best! These are super easy to use, you just boil them and fit them to your teeth. You can kind of control the thickness too because you press it to mold to your teeth. I have been using these for a couple of weeks now and the mouth guard is still going strong :)
