AARodriguez Replacement Hinges for VW Armrest Lids

In case you don't know, a "MK4" armrest lid is used in the 2007 VW New Beetle, which is what I installed this part in. It works great! Much stouter than the original part, which was badly designed. This remedies that. Very easy to install. Good work, AARodriguez!

Easy to assemble. If the written instructions still seem daunting to you, hunt down AARodriguez/Fix My VW's video that shows how to install this hinge. And Andrew, the proprietor, demonstrates the latch durability by wailing on the part with a hammer, no damage.I used a non-powered screwdriver to assemble, if you're elbow hasn't run out of elbow grease, you can still install the latch, just a few minutes longer than using a power tool.

Great part to fix your armrest if it has been broken. It is very sturdy, but it was difficult to get it back in afterwards.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical when I bought these. To my surprise this is an outstanding solution. They work great and only take a whopping tem minutes to install. I would highly recommend this product.

My center console armrest is back to normal after years of dealing with a lid that falls off! Every time I lift the console up I'm used to holding the lid on. Hard to break that habit! Years of lid falling off just by leaning on it are over! Funny how the simple things can make such a difference!I thought the price was a little steep for what it is and aftermarket lids are sold for around the same price or less. But the more I thought about it, I can spend the same price and keep my lid which is original to car and in perfect condition. There was no need to replace lid with something I wasn't sure would fit my vehicle perfectly. So that's what made me this worth it for me and I'm glad I made that decision!Very easy to install, just follow directions. Watching seller's YouTube video first is a good idea. You have to be careful using the hack saw to not damage the leather that wraps underneath the lid. I used to painters masking tape as a precaution. Would have been easier with a clamp as suggested in instructions, but I did not have one.Took me about 10-15 minutes from start to finish. Trickiest part was connecting lid to console after installing hinge, but not rocket science!

This ingenious product saved me a ton of time and money. OEM replacements cost hundreds of dollars and you have to remove a lot of stuff to even complete the job. Don't hesitate on the fear this won't work -- it works great. I've had it installed on my 2000 Jetta for more than a year. I've leaned on it when getting in/out of the car. My wife bumps into it. It can take the punishment of the high 90s and subzero temps (F). Thanks for a great product at a great price!

I broke my armrest lid and the dealer wanted $200 + to replace it. I am so glad I found this replacement part! The install was easy, took 15 mins to complete, and now my lid is fixed and stronger than before!
