Hilarious and so sweet
I stayed up for hours reading this book, trying to keep myself quiet so as not to wake my kids, because this book is genuinely SO FUNNY. Naomi is hilarious and so well written and relatable, I felt like I was right in her shoes through the whole book. Nicholas was a beautifully written, very human MMC. This story felt raw and real in a way that had my emotions moving right along with theirs. As someone who loves a good second chance romance, this was a 5/5 book for me and going on my “comfort reads” list. However, if you’re looking for spice, this one isn’t it. Maybe a 0.5/5🌶️ for some implied spice and vague descriptions.

Great enemies to lovers with a different take on second chance!
Listened to the audio of this book and I was very glad I made that choice. I liked the narrator and I flew through the book in a couple of days. Yes, that has to do with me listening at 1.75 speed but also I just had a hard time stopping.Naomi and Nicholas had a whirlwind of a time dating and falling in love, but it wasn't until they got engaged and moved in together that things took a downhill turn. Fast forward to the beginning of this book and they are a few months away from their wedding day. A wedding that neither seem to want, but neither want to be the one to call things off. And so begins a series of increasing pranks and attempts to push the other past their breaking point. But along the way, they find themselves breaking down their walls and falling for one another all over again, this time with eyes wide open.Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was funny and it was sweet. Watching them have a second chance to fall in love and find their way back to one another was so heartening to watch. The big issue with their relationship is that they never learned how to openly communicate with one another, so that when the other person wasn't meeting a need or needs of theirs, they shut down and withdrew into themselves, too scared to risk rocking the boat. It wasn't until Naomi hit her breaking point and threw all caution to the wind in order to get Nicholas to break up with her. At this point she finally started living again and showed who she truly is and Nicholas felt comfortable enough to do the same.I'll be honest, as much as I ended up enjoying this book and rooting for their HEA, I had a hard time liking either of them fully for a while. The lack of communication led to a huge heaping of bitterness on both of their parts, though we only ever fully got Naomi's perspective. At one point she says she loves Nicholas 9%. While every relationship is bound to have their ups and downs, I got through most of this thinking that these two needed some major therapy in order to work through everything. While I don't love a number of Nicholas's actions (not standing up for his fiancé, some of his cutting remarks to name a few), I definitely bordered on not liking Naomi for a good portion of the book. I think she had every reason to feel hurt (her family sounds like trash and Nicholas's is far from being any better), but I think there were better ways to handle it than how she did. Granted, it is fairly realistic that someone might respond in the same way that she did. I think this is why I ultimately come out liking the book even if Naomi can be incredibly oblivious and both of them just need to talk to one another. Desperately.Ultimately, I would recommend this to those who love a good enemies-to-lovers trope. This one definitely delivers.

Swoon…. All of the heart eyes….
When I first started this book, I wasn’t sure if I was going to finish it let alone like it. It started out with what seemed to be a girl who fell head over heels in love with the idea of falling in love and REALLY quickly, but it quickly turned into something more. I am so glad I kept reading! This will go on the small bookshelf of books that is to be read again and again and again.I love a good romcom, and this one had me cackling so much that I was afraid that I was going to wake my sleeping husband as I covertly read it under the covers on my Kindle. It is funny, sweet…just so well written. The characters are lovable, and I found myself cheering them on throughout the book. The only part I wish wasn’t in the book was the one sex scene (insert eye roll). I don’t like things like that, so I just skipped the few pages it was on and continued on my merry way. This book was too good to stop reading because of that one minor flaw in my opinion. If you can overlook that by skipping past it or if it doesn’t bother you at all, I encourage you to read this book. Sarah Hogle is definitely going on the short list of authors that I follow.

Nice way to pass the time.
It was a funny, sweet, and realistic book about an engaged couple three months away from getting married. We only get Naomi’s point of view, but somehow SH is able to convey Nicholas's emotions and motives. I had a hard time liking either character, but the writing was well done, and overall, I had a good time reading it.

Witty, Crazy Love.
What a pleasant surprise this book was. I wasn’t sure at the start, because Naomi was a little crazy, but my word I loved her. They way her brain thinks, we could be twins! I adored how this book was a slow burn romance with an already engaged couple, very refreshing on how it played out. And play is a key word for this story, they thrived on one upping each other which had me giggling along with them.Another major plus for me was the unity they shared, whether playing pranks, learning to defend their partner or showering each other in gifts, it wasn’t one sided and they were a perfect team. Nicholas’s wishes came true the night he met Naomi, and even if their relationship went off track briefly, he never gave up on their love. This character is going to be with me for some time I’m sure. Lastly, I appreciated Naomi’s sentiments when realizing that Nicholas was it for her, he was worth it and it didn’t matter where they got married. It wasn’t the venue or destination, it was what was in front of her all along…him…and she finally could see that and see him crystal clear. Definitely recommend this rom-com highly.

Hilarious
Loved this book! I don't usually buy books anymore, I stick to the library, but I rented this book 3 times because I loved it so much so I figured it'd be easier to just buy my own copy so I wouldn't have to keep waiting for it to be available at the library. It was hilariously written and I loved the characters, especially the whole lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers pipeline was SO GOOD. The characters felt relatable and real and delightfully unhinged at times.

I understand the hype now. Utter perfection
REVIEWcw: brief mention of bullying, mention of cheating (by supporting characters), body-shaming, manipulative parentingNaomi Westfield and Nicholas Rose seem like the perfect couple. Due to marry in three months, Naomi has been feigning contentment while their wedding plans have been usurped by Nicholas’s overbearing mother. Resentment has been bubbling and she's barely tolerating her fiance. When Naomi realises Nicholas is just as discontent as she is, the gloves come off. They’re both utterly miserable, but in order to ensure she's not loveless, jobless, AND homeless she needs Nicholas to be the one who calls off the engagement. Diabolical pranks, as well as emotional warfare ensue. But when they finally stop pretending everything is fine, their walls come down, and they start to remember why they fell in love. When they define enemies-to-lovers second chance rom-com, there should be a picture of this book next to it! I've had this book on my TBR for the longest time. I WISH I'd read it sooner! My only regret is reading it with a rib injury. The way I CACKLED laughing repeatedly at each diabolical observation and scheme. It was SUCH a clever twist on the second chance/enemies-to-lovers romance tropes to have them start the story engaged. If miscommunication were a book, this would be it. But underneath it all lies hurt feelings. Was it realistic? Absolutely not. Did I care? Absolutely not!The prologue was hilarious, perfectly capturing all the nerves and second guesses of dating. Both Naomi and Nicholas were people-pleasers in their own ways. Naomi had lost her sense of self and in doing so, mentally checked out of the relationship. Meanwhile, Nicholas just seemed to want a quiet life, so had long bowed to his domineering mother's every whim. There's a fine line between love and hate, and somewhere along the line, Naomi tipped over. The first half of the story read like high farce, in the best way. Naomi's acerbic observations of Nicholas and his family made me snort with laughter The snark was utterly fabulous, although sometimes more than a little mean. It was viciously razor sharp and each new way they taunted each other became more diabolical. Their dinner at Nicholas’s parent's house after Naomi declared war took me out, especially the 'handyman' conversation. As for Naomi and her co-worker's reaction to the 'oleander'? Hilarious. Speaking of which, I LOVED Leon and Brandy.Just when I thought It couldn't get funnier, chapters 9 and 10 happened. The entire car debacle felt like a scene from the BEST rom-com movie, and as for the 'farfaccine'? I almost choked (just like they did), I was cackling so much. But as much as I laughed, I also wanted to hug them both. The fishing incident and the aftermath in chapter 13 were beautifully written, perfectly capturing all of their vulnerabilities and fears. As for the revelations inside Nicholas’s bedroom, and then Naomi's realisation about everything he does for her in the following chapter? I wanted to give him the biggest hug. What a cinnamon roll. As was Naomi with her own demonstrations of love. I loved it when they started to truly open up, and spoke more freely. Naomi was perpetually self-deprecating. I LOVED the confrontation with Melissa and their teamwork towards her and then Nicholas’s mum. My heart broke anew with Nicholas’s revelation about their favourite eaterie, and then Naomi's job rejections. Their bonding over Nightjar, and keeping Deborah out of their home was an unexpected delight, and chapter 18 made me swoon. As for the following chapter, it felt so cathartic, and I haven't cried that much for a while (other than falling down the stairs!) The reveal of how they met was so stinking cute, and the end just tied everything up beautifully.Ultimately, this was a story about learning to become a team while being honest and open about your own needs, and I truly ADORED it.Utter perfection.Overall Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Heat Rating: 🔥.5
