Easy fix
Cut the existing wire where it was safe and easy to work. Spliced old and new wires. Make sure to use correct size of wire connectors, fasten good and tight and tape to insulate connectors and your done. Small blue wire connectors worked best.

Upcycle, It's cheaper
Our foot press went out on our floor lamp. My husband asked if I wanted to keep it. For the price of this foot press as opposed to a new lamp, no question, get this and save a lamp!He did have to rewire it, but if you're handy, no sweat.

wire to small
the wire in side this cable is so small I won't trust it to handle 110, also the plug ends are both the. same size not like any other cord you have for a lamp tv etc. in the USA we have one bigger end and one smaller the smaller being the hot side. I threw mine away.

Very thin wire
I purchased this to replace an old cord on a torchier lamp. While the foot switch works well, the wire is so thin, I can't imagine it meets any US code. Fortunately I use a 4 watt LED bulb so it's fine but I would not use this with anything that draws any significant current. Wire is just too thin.
