Product description Ozzfest 2001 - The Second Millennium CD Epic, 504366 9, 2001, 16 Track .com Everything Ozzy Osbourne touches turns to gold--or platinum! And this compilation of bands from the Black Sabbath frontman's highly successful annual Ozzfest touring package looks to be no exception. Some of the acts included in this 16-song live disc are already major-leaguers, including Sabbath, who kick off the CD with a strong version of their classic, "The Wizard." The nu-metal likes of Slipknot, Disturbed, Linkin Park, and Papa Roach turn in solid performances, with Papa Roach's rendition of "Blood Brothers" the most raw performance of the lot. Marilyn Manson serves up a worthy version of their great "Love Song," and in keeping with Ozzfest's reputation for breaking new bands, there are strong entries from Drowning Pool (the unstoppable "Bodies," one of the best offerings here), Union Underground, teen glam-punks Pure Rubbish, and Nonpoint. With this release, Ozzfest reaffirms its position as one of the most consistently excellent summer touring packages. --Katherine Turman

CD is the only way to hear it all
As we get deeper and deeper into the conundrum that is modern media, legendary performances, get lost to history. If you’re a true fan of the nu-metal genre. Or Connoisseur You’ll get this album on CD because licensing and copyright will not allow streaming services to give you every performance recorded at this historical concert event

One of the greatest Live albums of all time
At first, I thought Woodstock was the best, now I see that Ozzfest is much better. I'm listening to the CD now as I review it. Here it goes1. Black Sabbath-The Wizard 5/5- The pioneers of metal almost sound better live than in the studio with this track.2. Marilyn Manson- The Love Song 2/5- I'm not that crazy about Marilyn Manson, and this is one of his worse songs.3. Slipknot-New Abortion 4/5- Never was that much of a Slipknot fan, but this song is a great song to headbang your anger out.4. Papa Roach- Blood Brothers 5/5- One of the best songs on the entire CD.5. Linkin Park- With You 5/5- Great band that puts on a great performance with this song. This is the reason why I bought the "Hybrid Theory" album.6. Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society- Superterrorizer 5/5- Zakk Wylde is the best guitarist out there right now and this track proves it. I love the anti-Limp Bizkit comment.7. Disturbed- Fear 5/5- Disturbed (and PanterA) is the greatest band to walk the planet, and this track is one of the resons why.8. MuDvAyNe- Death Blooms 4/5- MuDvAyNe's okay. I like the song, but I'm not about to buy one of their albums anytime soon.9. Drowning Pool- Bodies 4/5- Great song! Not as good as the album version, but still amazing! We'll miss you, Dave!10. Union Underground- South Texas Deathride 5/5- One of the best bands on the second stage. This song is incredible!11. OTEP- Fillthee 3/5- Decent band, decent song. Nothing special though.12. nonpoint- What A Day 2/5- Not the greatest, worth listening to.13. Hatebreed- Last Breath 1/5- These guys are too hardcore for my liking and the song is too short. I'll listen to it occasionally, but no promises.14. Systematic- Deep Colors Bleed 3/5- Pretty good song. Never really heard of Systematic, though.15. Pure Rubbish- Kiss Of Death 4/5- Good song. Not metal, but old time Rock N' Roll (as they put it). Never really heard of them though.16. American Head Charge- Reach And Touch 5/5- This live version blows the album version straight out of the water! I love A.H.C. even though I only heard them over the summer. Great band, great song. "Seamless" would have been better though.

When Ozzfest (and metal) nosedived. Wah wah!
I went to Ozzfest 98, 99, 01, and 02. Up until 99 or 2000, the band line-ups were fairly solid, but when hard rock radio went crazy with the immature nu-metal fad, the Ozzfest logo changed, they added in that hilariously goofy red devil, and literally only about four bands out of 20 each year were even worth paying to see.I mean, c'mon now... At Ozzfest 2001 & 2002 half the crowds were obviously frat boys wearing polo's and red or white ball caps, hahaha. Fred Durst fanboys, and the tracklist to this album screams frat metal.Maybe the 90s metal bands had too much technicality and substance for the nu-kids to latch onto?
