Great Mic
This is a great microphone especially for the value. My wife interviews me for social media and my webiste. We often do our interviews in noisy environments. This mic cuts out all of the background noise and my voice is loud and clear. My wife also uses the mic to record herself. She has a quieter voice and it picks up her voice beautifully. I highly recommend this purchase.

Nice sound, LOW volume problem...at first
UPDATE: For reasons I do not understand, the mic is now working better in camera mode. Exact same setup today as yesterday, but now the audio is an acceptable level. Go figure. I'll see how long this lasts. Updated to 4 stars for now.-------------------------------------------------I tried this out on my Canon D80 DSLR. First I found you need to be careful in pushing in the mini-plug all the way; thought I had it in correctly the first time, but the recording was on one track only. Not an issue I have had before.A problem is that the recording volume is pretty low. I even checked the battery voltage to see if it was dead (it wasn't). I played my test video on a Win 10 PC and needed to have both the player and the computer volume up to full to hear my voice, even then it was soft. I think I can boost the sound in a video editor, but I don't think I should have to. This unit looks to be well made and simple to use otherwise. Too bad.Update-Volume is good on a cell phone (Pixel 3), so not sure why camera is so much lower. Tried it on a Canon Vixia HF G50 video camera, same low volume issues.

Excellent quality
I got a wireless mic first but it sounded staticky and under the water kind of sound. But this one is crisp sound. It picks up on all sounds pretty well which is what i wanted.

Sound Playing Through Mic Leaks Into Recording
I was planning to use this microphone with IEMs in lieu of a headset. The microphone itself sounds decent. It has adequate pickup from about a foot away, a low noise floor, and is rustling noise is minimized. This microphone has a monitoring jack for headphones in the control cylinder. It passes through audio from your computer/smartphone to headphones plugged into it. It would be a wonderful feature if it actually worked...If you play sound to listen on your headphones while recording then the sound will be recorded. It has substantial electrical crosstalk / bleeding / leaking between its TRRS poles. It actually doesn't matter if headphones are plugged in or not, any audio playing on the left or right output poles will leak into the mic input pole. It's not picking up audio being played through the air, but electrically. The issue occurs with both my MacBook's onboard sound and my PC's Sound Blaster Play 3 USB DAC.The above means that you can't use it as a headset for conference calling as the other party hears themselves talk. This also means that you cannot use it to record only your vocals while playing music from your computer. The only way to avoid in/out leakage is to separate the headphones with a TRRS to TRS breakout cable then feed the microphone the mic TRRS pole via a TRS to TRRS combiner cable. This is shown in the first picture. Using the microphone as in the second picture will result in leakage. When I contacted Boya support they blamed it on my sound settings. Eventually they referred it to their technical staff but they have not responded since.I thought I had a defective unit so I sent the first one back. The replacement that I received has the same issue. It seems to be defective by design. I don't understand how none of the previous reviews nor YouTubers have noticed this issue.I hope someone find this review useful. I would've like to have seen a review like this before I wasted my time.

Was great, until.....
When I first purchased this item it was a major improvement. The sound was good, well much better than the phones mic when making videos. That being said, after a year of use its developed crackling and the tone of my voice though the mic when recorded is noticeably different than it was with the first few videos I did using this mic. I've changed the batteries and changed the and even used a different recording app for sound to make sure I was covering all bases. I cannot get this mic to produce the same good sound it had when I first purchased it. So, maybe its just my unit, maybe I have bad luck. I hope anyone else who purchases this mic has good luck with it.

Best for the price!
The media could not be loaded. Very surprised by the quality of this microphone, I think it's one of the best at its price. It connects via a jack connector and it can be used with a camera or a smartphone. The cable is also very long. Recommend!
