wellies
I like the basic Hunter wellingtons as they grip my thin ankles - I can walk all day in them - but they are now pricey. The Hogs are virtually the same and cost less, plus the quality is as good as the Hunters.

Suitable for wide calf.
Good quality boot but better suited for wide calf. Sadly sent back as skinny calfs. Actually shoe size fit true to size and allows for thicker sock if wanted.

Women's Wellington Boots
I ordered these boots and did ask the question, what is the circumference around the top of the boot? I received two replies of 17”. On that basis I ordered them. However, when they arrived I found that they were too narrow around the top of the boot and were nowhere near 17”. It occurred to me that the one of the responses was from a lady who had ordered a size 10 for her husband and they were 17”. As I take a size 4 the top of the wellington was likely to be a lot less than 17”.’They are quite long as well. I am 5’ 4” and found that they were uncomfortable at the back of the knee when sitting or bending the knee. However, after contacting Hoggs of Fife, they were very helpful and sent me a label to return them for a full refund. That said, I was very disappointed because the boots themselves are excellent quality and extremely well made and I really wanted to keep them. But it was not to be.

A good replacement for my old wellingtons
I was reluctant to buy wellingtons online , but when my old pair sprang a leak I thought I would give these a try. For many years I have worn Hunters. Not for a fashion look but because living in the countryside walking boots are unsuitable most of the time and I need good quality wellingtons.Although these are new and untested for long term use , I find them to be very comfortable and a generous fit.

Actually very impressed
Ok, so only had there wellies 2 weeks, but so far so good. Quality and comfort like the old hunter yard wellies from the 80’s, look good and so far holding up to my extreme dog walking. After finally giving up on hunters ( first pair lasted 15 years, after the move of production to china non lasting more than 3 months ) I have been looking for something that looks good, can be used constantly and are comfortable. That’s are also still hand made in Scotland, amazing quality, though a little large round the leg for my skinny legs. However the adjustment strap on the side actually works and the foot fits perfectly, with only one pair of socks. I love these wellies and if they hold up for more than 6 months, then absolute value for money and will be switching my allegiance to hoggs of fife for future footwear

Made in Scotland
Arrived day earlier than expected which was great. I've found the fit as stated (s6) I wear a medium thick sock (Nordic). Alot taller leg than I usually wear, being just under my knee (I'm 5ft 3ins) but the top doesn't rub. It's a slim fitting boot too. Only been wearing them a week so early days. Only down side is, as I wear them in the car to get to work ( I need to walk onto a ferry each day) the top of the boot sticks under the edge of the car seat. On the whole I'm happy with my purchase.

Would not recommend again.
Just after a year they started leaking really badly. As out of warrantee, they won't replace even though they are clearly faulty. For this amount of money - you expect them to last quite a bit longer than 12 months without a leak. Would not recommend again.
