"More Fabric Savvy" gives a lot of hints about the selection and treatment of newly available fabrics. I didn't give 5 stars because some of the fabric photo garments use more than one fabric, and you can't tell how much drape to expect. This book is a valuable book to have in any sewers library. The book gives you not only information about the fabric but hemming suggestions,along with stitch length,thread,type of interfacing to use, needle size needed, optimal seam finishings, presser foots and whether to pre-shrink or not. OH ANNNDD its spiral bound. Definitely a must have book.Love It!!!!!

This great quick-reference guide is for sewists of all skill levels. Highly recommended.The excellent full-color book covers machine-sewing of 101 different fabrics. Everything from African mudcloth to weather-resistant synthetics.I got a hardcover, spiral-bound copy of the $24.95 book in mint condition on Amazon Marketplace for only $7.50. The $26.95 update is a softcover book with only a few more fabrics and some updated notions. Nothing that can't be found for free online.

So I am just copying the review I did for the volume 1 of this book (fabric savvy) onto here with some added stuff. This one has more fabrics some of the same from the other but even more than before.I cannot say enough awesome things about this book! Not only has it helped me chose fabric for projects but also help me figure out how to care for clothes I already have when I ripped off the tag with all the symbols on it (cause those little things are itchy). It also has some crazy awesome info about how to sew each fabric in regards to needles, threads, and even presser feet. It is a must have.I still stand by the statement that it is a must have.

This reference is a must for any & all sewing enthusiasts! Textile & design Students, teachers & the everyday home designer MUST have this book. I have a personally signed copy from Sandra Bettina from years ago that I use religiously. Don't know what type needle or seam finish for your fabric? You ll find the answer here as well as other useful fabric facts for everything from cotton to crepe. I've given several for gifts to some of my design students & was sad to hear it's out of print. I purchased an excellent used copy from Amazon & it was accepted enthusiastically!

A life saver. I cannot express how important it is to have a book that explains if and how to pretreat fabric BEFORE clothing production. It explains thread needs, needle sizes, helpful sewing feet, material content information and traits, all kinds of useful facts when designing a garment or anything in fabric for that matter.

Used this and the other one by the author when I made my last dress. Both saved my butt when using some new fabrics!

This book was purchased because of the other good reviews. Initially it seemed like a very helpful book, although the made up garments were not to my taste. After reading through the book it became obvious that the author has a dislike of modern man made fabrics. If the variations of woollen and silk fabrics were removed from the book there wouldn't be many pages left.I won't be keeping this book, I'm buying the one I should have bought in the first place, Claire Shaeffer's Fabric Sewing Guide.

Great book that provides loads of insight into all the different types of fabric. Would be great to have had it pocket size to take around the fabric shops with you but this way it has loads of info.

This book was recommended by a sewing tutor and have proved very useful for identifying fabrics.

In my opinion...a MUST HAVE! Easy understanding of A LOT of differnet fabrics, some i did not know existed! They give you cool tips,tricks and how to sew/work with them! I do not regret this buy, espicially the spiral bound book. It lays flat and is easier to consult.I enjoy reading it, consulting it and showing it off to my sewing buddies. They all bought one...!If you love sewing...it's an excellent addition to your reference library.

This book is chock full of excellent information relative to varied fabrics that we work with. The photos are large and enticing. The information is interesting and spaced well on the page. It is very readable but backed by experience and research. Any one who sews would find this a valuable reference in a sewing library.

Even better than the first edition. I use this personally and to help other costume sewers at our theatre choose the right needles, tensions, stitches, feet and seams for everything from batiste to leather. An indispensable resource for anyone who sews.

This book is so helpful for learning about fabrics and how to care for them.
