The New York Times Crosswords For A Lazy Day: 130 Fun, Easy Puzzles Mass Market Paperback – April 4, 2006

Crosswords never caught on with me, but recently I explored nytimes.com, our internet home page, and got to the crosswords. They are presented in a terrific format, but I couldn't save what I'd done to come back to later. So I went to mother, Amazon, and found this book. I agree with the other comments (except the puzzles are just the right degree of difficulty for me). It would be nice if the book were spiral bound and a larger book size, but It's ok.I've completed the first three puzzles and had a lot of fun doing them, then ordered books for two friends.Many of the words are fun surprises, sometimes two and more word answers, although I have to work around the band leaders, singers. Good there are not a lot of arcane (showing off) words known only to experienced puzzlers. It even kept me awake until ten last night.I'm going to patent an eraser on a string (continually losing it in bed and chair) and make millions, and get our cat her own eraser.

I enjoy crosswords and these Shortz ones are my faves as long as they are Monday puzzles. I like a challenge but I can't handle the end of the week. These are perfect. i have to think but I can sometimes do the entire puzzle or close to it. I don't look up answers. I really dislike the puzzles that are so easy that there is no challenge.

The quality of the puzzles was just right. Mostly easy but enough challenges to make them interesting.Book was in excellent shape and arrived in timely manner. Thank you for such a good experience.

The dimensions of the book are given further down the page in the details, but I didn't read them. Having purchased many crossword books, all of which were spiral bound and at least 8.5"x11", I never suspected that this book was tiny. It is really too small to write in or keep open, not worth it. The fact that the book is pocket sized should be included in the heading description, so others are not disappointed like I am.

I wanted a puzzle book for my "library" (water closet), and this book is just the ticket! It is nothing but crosswords (I don't have to wade through a bunch of "variety" puzzles I have no interest in). Don't let "The New York Times" deter you if you're not a pro puzzler. You'll find many hours of surmountable challenge in this from Will Shortz.

Most of it is pretty simple to get, but as an immigrant I do struggle with a lot of old-timey pop-culture references (really old singers, names of movies) and sports references. I have no interest in sports whatsoever. This is a problem with most crosswords, but I would have expected "crosswords for a lazy day" to be ... well, lazier.Not as lazy as I thought!

This book is fun, but depending upon the crossword author, you will need to look up some answers. Then you will have the answer for future books. I do one puzzle in the morning in bed and then one at night before I go to sleep. These puzzles show some enjoyable humor and themes. I recommend this puzzle book.

I love this compact crossword puzzle book because it is both functional and "easily" challenging. It is a great size to slip in my purse to take to the doctor's office, and I don't have to be constantly "cheating" to find out the answers. I would like very much to buy many more books with the same format and degree of ease.

Good little book packed with crosswords. Was smaller than I expected but the print was big enough.

The level of difficulty of the crossword puzzles is just right, just as the title says, '...Crosswords for a Lazy Day.'

It's a great book. Wish it could have been a little bigger in dimension.

This thick paperback format makes it very hard to actually do the puzzles - the binding of the book is too tight and it is painstaking to try to write in the puzzles. Would not recommend. Stick to spiral-bound versions.
