Not tapped properly for a 10/22 Takedown.
Bought this for my 10/22 Takedown since the UTG scope I purchased wouldn't fit the rail that came with the rifle. Of the four holes in the rail, only two of them (the outer two) line up with the holes on the receiver. I still installed the product using just the two screws with blue loctite. Seems solid, we'll see how it holds up over time. Despite this, the product is excellent overall. The rail is strong but light weight and does allow the shooter to see through provided you have rings that will permit it. The UTG rings that came with the scope do not, but they are quick release so I can use the iron sights if necessary. Not for a Takedown but definitely worth the money if you're looking for a good rail. EDITED July 18, 2013 After a comment left on this review, I took a closer look and I had installed the rail backwards. Oops. Installed correctly, the holes line up perfectly. Sorry for the confusion. I've added one more star for a perfect product.

Made in the USA, excellent quality, works perfectly
I spent a good deal of time shopping around to find a mount to allow use of iron sights. I saw this product early on but, of course, thought I could find something less expensive. Let me save you all some time: Spend the money and order this MSP mount made right here in the USA. Everything arrived nicely packaged. Even the screws had their own tiny bag so as not to bang into the mount during shipping. The finish on the screws, likely an afterthought with other brands, matched the mount's matte finish perfectly. The edges on the machined mount were nice and crisp. And, finally (and most importantly), the iron sights are fully functional when I remove the rings. The sight picture I have is exactly as pictured in the Amazon listing. FYI I have a Ruger 10/22 Sporter with the factory iron sights and Vortex rings.

Perfect rail for open sights! Works with my TacSol Barrel.
Very nice, wide channel that provides a complete open sight profile when not being used. I like being able to keep it on my rifle all the time, which makes it a perfect companion for my Tactical Solutions barrel with open sights!

Perfect fit on my 10/22
I needed this for a light mount and a red dot for my 10/22. Did some quick looking around and I am all about quality, not price. I needed the item quickly and other suppliers and other brands were out of stock and I found this one available and ready to be shipped on Amazon. I ordered it and I am VERY pleased with the fit and function. My Blackhawk picatiny light mount fit perfect as well as my weaver style red dot. Great product, RECOMMEND.

Mount
Quick and easy way to mount a scope or red dot sight. Can still use original sights if nothing is mounted on rail.

Good open sight access
This Ruger 10/22 sight base is well made and provides good access to the open sights when nothing is attached to it. The top of the base stands 0.240 above the receiver on my gun and the bottom of the center slot stands 0.120 above the receiver. The slot is 0.375 wide. The base is 4 3/4 inches long and has 12 grooves across it. The screws that came with it were slotted but seemed to be good quality. It is a bit expensive but may be worth it if you want good access to your open sights.

Well made, machined from billet, Mil-Spec, milled so you can use iron sights
I am very pleased with this picatinny rail. It is a quality piece that allows you to use the factory iron sights of your 10/22 take-down or regular 10/22 with the scope removed. It is low to the receiver so your scope objective bell will just clear the rear sight folded using low .730" scope rings. I used Leupold QD low rings on my 2-7X34 REDFIELD battlezone scope. You can remove the scope and rings and that will permit you to take-down the rifle. With the scope removed you have use of factory iron sights. Also, this rail fits the 10/22 take-down without hanging out over the barrel or jam nut ring, so you have full access to the ring that tightens the barrel/receiver fit. Some others, like the Williams peep sight rail are too long and the rail covers the top part of adjustment ring. I looked at a lot of other rails before I decided on this one. I couldn't be more pleased. Not the cheapest rail out there, but worth the money. It only goes on one way. If all four receiver holes line up you have it on the right way. If only three holes are showing reverse it 180 degrees.

Does what I want, but I'm still wanting....
The hardware seems well-machined and to tolerance. The more expensive rail does what I basically want - make the iron sights usable when I have the rail attached. It does that--- barely. One has to place their head precisely to use the iron sights well. I plan to get dovetail rings so that I can use either the scope or the iron sights. The rail comes with flat head screws (really?), and gives warnings about not using blue loctite. Today's hardware should be joined with torx or better!
