What an amazing book!
It is one of those books that, while providing updated and research based information, is very entertaining to read. A combination between information and story telling that makes it difficult to stop reading once we start. Highly recommended for anybody trying to learn about neuroscience.

Educational
There were some groundbreaking ideas about the brain, memory, exercise, meditation and how the brain has plasticity. I enjoyed the stories that Wendy and Billie added to the neuroscience part of the book. It took me a long time to read the book. Sometimes I had to take a break from the book. It’s very educational and a valuable resource.

Motivating
Informative, fun, and motivating. In Healthy Brain, Happy Life, Dr. Suzuki teaches the reader technical terms and concepts, while explaining them in a way that most people could understand. The practical tips at the end of each chapter is a useful way of learning how to help get your neurons going. I have taken Dr. Suzuki's advice and now enjoy exercise so much more since I have a deeper reason for moving my body. In part, it is almost written as a novel, which helps to reveal the more human side of our brains.

What do you want to get out of this book?
I gave this 3 stars because I really enjoyed the neuro aspect of the book but I believe it was quite in depth to the point of overkill. I love Wendys' personal journey & appreciate her sharing it. But I was left feeling disappointed as she kept alluding to the connection she had with her physical fitness regime. I personally was disappointed in this section of the book. Maybe I was expecting too much. If you like statistics & lots of data, you might find this a good read.

Interesting, unique blend of a great story and excellent, helpful insights
I read and write on life and have reviewed, studied, and learned from many sources. From that background, I selected this book after reviewing it for about 30 minutes. As I read it, I marveled at the honesty of the author about her personal story and how she also wove into it excellent insights, in context, that, I think, anyone can benefit from. It is both a "self-help" (life improvement) book and an enjoyable tale of her life...so far... It's a bit of a two for one, story plus gaining knowledge - a great combination for me.I have two book shelves of books related to the brain already, but this is a unique approach pointing to some very useful ways of living and thriving and enriching one's world. I shall add the additional learnings to my website and future writings.Thank you, Wendy Suzuki, for writing this little masterpiece and for the many, many hours it must have taken to craft this unique blend of the story of your life and what people can take from it and from your indepth study and knowledge about this vital area!Keith D. Easy-to Read 2015-Update on the Neuroscience of Exercising
I kept reading until I finished the book. I was interested in the neuroscience aspect of the book. It is a memoir with little artistic style and emotional connection. The book can inspire people who give priority to their brains over their bodies (e.g., nerds) to exercise, socialize , and meditate.

Awesome and Inspirational Read
This book is a highly informative and inspirational read. I loved reading about Dr. Suzuki's journey as she realized, at mid-life, that she needed to make personal changes on a very fundamental level and then applied all her knowledge and curiosity as a neuroscientist to propel that journey, bolstered by her confidence in "brain plasticity" -- our ability to change on that very fundamental level. I loved this book and was amazed and inspired by the level of openness and vulnerability it revealed, particularly given the author's seeming starting place: a woman somewhat closed down and hardened by the competitive rigors of academic life and her own ambition. This book left me uplifted with the knowledge that, at mid-life, a world of personal transformation still awaits us -- both in our personal and professional lives. This book weaves informative and accessible scientific explanations (which, to me, give the book its credibility) into a highly personal story.

Amazing.
Wendy writes this book in a way which combines education with inspiration. She invites her reader to tag along on her life journey. Studying the brain with all its intricate parts can be complicated...but not so with this neuroscientist. I am motivated to track my progress going forward with my newly-found knowledge as a result of this book. "Thank you!"

A Must-Read for Everyone
Great book. I'm interested in health, the brain and keeping fit and this book combines all three. It's written in an easy to understand and accessible style and I would recommend it to everyone. If you're interested in keeping fit and healthy as you age, read this book and follow Wendy's advice. It's going on my "keepers" bookshelf.
