Ahhh... the scent of cedar
Yes! This IS two bags of hinoki shavings, and YES! They do come in water-permeable sachets. Depending on how large or hot your bath is, your mileage may vary on the intensity of the scent in your bath. I also wouldn't confuse these for bath oil or salts—this is really more for enjoying a scent in the room, not on your bod. They were a nice gift for my friend who has a big soaker tub.

Hit gift for wives or gfs
Bought this for my wife based off a strategist list, and she loved them. They also double as nice little scent bags to leave lingering around your bathroom a bit longer after usage.

Evocative, natural wood smell
These wood shavings smell like heaven and evoke a woodland setting. They release a delicate scent into hot bathwater, dry easily without any mold and retain their scent. Ive used one of the two pack and it is acting as a sachet in one of my drawers.

not at all worth it
It’s wood shavings, alright. You have to stick the dripping sachet in your face and huff like you’re a glue addict in 1993 to perceive any Hinko scent.

Lovely
Exactly as described. Smell was very fresh and strong when left in the batt for several minutes while it cooled down. I was indeed able to dry and use again. Great buy!

A good idea, not effectively produced
I received 2 packages (4 bags) of these for Christmas gifts this past year. I requested them because I was excited to find Hinoki wood to use in the bath. I'm sorry to say these Hinoki bath "tea" bags are a diluted disappointment. I do believe there are a couple of things that may help improve and strengthen the effect; one is that the bag fabric is too tightly woven and the bags are so over-full the water can't pass through the wood chips to 'steep' and the second is the strength of the 'brew' can be increased by steeping the wood shavings in boiling water, then adding that brew to the hot bath. After simply tossing a bag into a steaming bath I was quite disappointed that the scent was almost undetectable. I took the bag apart and put the wood shavings into a jar to measure just how much was stuffed into the bag. When the wood shavings were dry, the amount almost filled a quart jar. And that amount was stuffed into a mesh bag so small it should hold less than a cup of wood. (I'm keeping the dried shavings to put in our woodfire, hoping the Hinoki scent will be noticeable and add to the romance of the fire.)
