I have 2014 bmw x5 xdrive35i. i purchased 4 of 51717189259 and they fit loosely and fall right out. are these not compatible with my x5?

They definitely should not fall out, meaning they're not the correct part for your car. They can be pushed in by hand but they click in, so they can't be removed by hand.
