I believe the thermometer is accurate. It has an easy to read screen and comes with batteries to be able ti us either right out of the box. It reads the temperature pretty fast and it was a good price.

Wow. Never have I ever seen so many ding dongs that give a bad reviews because they don’t know how to calibrate this thermometer with another known or trusted thermometer for accuracy. If you press and hold the memory and mute button for at least 3seconds, you’ll see 0.0 appear. You can then calibrate up or down by pressing the memory key. I was able to match my baseline with a reliable oral thermometer verified at a local clinic or when I knew I was going to the doctor. I didn’t need to calibrate this device, but at least I know it’s possible. Device is simple and easy to use and affordable. Keep in mind that if symptoms or signs don’t match the readings, def seek a second opinion-esp with children. As a former clinician, I don’t trust these types but it’s nice to have something to share with family members.

Fast, accurate enough, and very easy to use compared to some I have used in the past. To use, I typically check both temples twice, and when someone has a fever you will get consistent fever results. I also check on myself, or someone without a fever and that let's me know it isn't just a battery issue as I will get consistent results (typically 97.8 for myself). The speed is where this shines, I have had ones in the paste that take trying to hold it still or get a decent spot to get a reading. This is super fast compared to older ones I have used (under 1 second).
