Hot flashes anyone? This gets rid of them.
I was using another brand that was highly rated and it worked well for a few years but quality went down hill, along with being sent expired bottles. Desperate to find the same dose, hexane free and of high quality, I switched to these. They work incredibly well! Being mature in age, hot flashes don't stand a chance with these. I was taking them daily and then dropped down to every couple of days. Thinking at that point, maybe the hot flash nightmare was gone, I stopped. Within a couple weeks, they returned. I took one at morning and night for two days and they are again gone. I'll be staying on this wonderful supplement maintaining one a day or one every other day--whichever my body needs. So thankful for a product that not only works but works fast. This ole gal has no time for any drama of hot flashes any time, day or night. The only 'downside' to this supplement is that my nails grow faster. I like to keep mine short but for those who like longer nails, it may or may not affect you the same. :)

Update: giving it another shot! See review.
Update 2: Do it. Give these a try if you’re dealing with peri, and, actually, even if you aren’t. Zero breast pain during PMS, mood way better, sleeping great, and skin looking good. I only take one at night with a magnesium supplement. Note to those dealing with peri - I had also been taking maca root and have found I only need the epo. Good luck! Update: I’m not going to change the rating just yet because I just started taking this again. I am taking it again because several things have occurred to me since I stopped taking it. 1. I had a period start early (4 days) just recently and I have not taken this for a couple months, so I think it’s just the peri and not the EPO. 2. Right around when I stopped taking it, I felt like my skin was looking super good....I had just had a bout of food poisoning so I actually thought my skin looked great because I had been through a major “purge.” Lol. Now I’m thinking it was actually the epo! 3. I’ve suffered with foot issues for years now - plantar, nerves, bone spur (I’m so lucky), but again, right around when I stopped taking this, I had been marveling at how good my feet had been feeling (I was even able to walk on a tile floor in bare feet with zero pain!). Didn’t make the connection at the time, I thought it was another supplement I was taking. Now I think it was the epo! 4. I had ZERO breast pain prior to the very early period popping up out of nowhere. Again, pretty sure it was the epo. Since stopping the epo, pretty bad pms breast soreness. These are all things I’ve read about in others reviews as being vastly improved with epo, so I am giving it another shot and am pretty excited. I’m glad I didn’t throw the bottle out! Stay tuned. Well, I don’t really know what to say about this! Lol. My period just started 5 days early (this has never happened in my life), and I can only chalk it up to this. As well, I don’t know if it’s helping with anything at all, really. I do feel like I’ve suddenly noticed a lot more hair loss lately and am wondering if this could be contributing? Anyway, I don’t recommend it.

Super Duper Supplement!!!
I'm a huge fan of the NOW brand for years. I will research a new vitamin or supplement for my health and then go right to Amazon and see who has the best deal. This NOW brand had the most milligrams and the more soft gels for just the right price. I'm very happy with them! I took an off brand in a shop in the mall years ago and I remember it being a huge container for quite a bit of money. I just remember taking it because I thought I had to or it was suggested by the salesman. I remember not seeing any type of change and just going with it because I thought it was working from the inside to the outside. Not the case with that. I'm sure the soft gels were filled with all kinds of chemicals and soy. Bleh! Not for me. I love the VERY simple ingredients in this brand. I have noticed such a difference in my face since taking these! I'm so happy for what they're doing to my skin. I feel amazing. I started off taking 1 of them a day but I'm ready to bump it up to 2 and see if I can reap anymore benefits from them. Wow this will be my go-to supplement from now on. I'm forever hooked and so thankful that the NOW brand has so many great options for me. I have always been a big fan of their prices and quality. By the way, the reasons for taking this supplement was because I have eczema-like skin on my face and scalp. I was tired of itching and getting irritated from it. I take numerous vitamins and supplements to help me with this problem but I always seem to have random flair ups. I researched that Evening Primrose oil would work wonders for my eczema and I'm very thankful for all the research.

but he did say that it was good that my cervix was thinning so I would not ...
I started taking this twice a day, along with raspberry leaf tea, on the day of my 36 week checkup with my first baby. I was only 1/2 cm dilated and 0% effaced. We went in for my 37 week checkup and I was 1.5 cm dilated and 70% effaced. At my 38 week checkup we saw a different doctor and I had not progressed at all, but he did say that it was good that my cervix was thinning so I would not be one of the first time moms that would need to have this done with the medication, which he said is fairly common. Today at my 39 week checkup, I saw another different doctor and he said that I was 1-2 cm dilated and only 50% effaced.... I'm not sure how accurate the last two doctor's I've seen are, but I may be a little biased because I really like the one that I usually see. But I do think this is helping to prepare my cervix for labor, however if you go into it thinking that it will help to induce labor you may be disappointed. However we have tried everything:walking, sex, pineapple. So I'm not blaming the product since nothing has been effective in putting me into labor so far. I'll post an update on how everything goes with the labor and delivery though. Hopefully soon!!

The many benefits of evening primrose oil.
Evening primrose oil (EPO for short) does not get the attention it rightfully deserves. Many women have heard of or used evening primrose oil, as it is anecdotally famous for alleviating PMS and menopause symptoms, though most clinical trials have shown no scientific evidence of this. Evening primrose oil, as it sounds, is the oil that comes from the seed of the evening primrose plant, which is native to Europe and North America. It has been said to also be an effective treatment for psoriasis, eczema, and arthritis, among other things. Early Native Americans recognized and utilized the healing properties of the plant for many ailments. Nowadays people like to focus on the importance of the almighty omega-3 fatty acids, but oft-forgotten are omega-6 fatty acids, which are what evening primrose oil provides as a natural highly concentrated source of GLA (gamma-linolenic acid). These essential fatty acids are required, but are not produced by the human body. Moreover, evening primrose oil is anti-inflammatory in nature. This makes EPO a great acne treatment. Evening primrose oil can be taken orally in gel capsule form (like these here) or applied topically as a moisturizing oil, and there are no known adverse side effects. As weird as it may sound if you are not familiar with the idea, using oil as a moisturizer works very well for dry, oily, acne-prone skin, or any type of skin for that matter. Your skin produces sebum and oil in an attempt to moisturize itself and correct imbalances, so using oil as a moisturizer tells your skin that it is already hydrated and doesn't need to produce any more oil, thus your skin actually becomes less oily throughout the day. I like to use 2 drops of evening primrose oil combined with 2 drops of almond oil topically as a morning moisturizer. Both of these have anti-inflammatory properties and are quickly and easily absorbed into the skin, so your face does not feel or look oily or shiny. At night before bed, I do the same thing combined with an additional 2 drops of tea tree oil and 2 drops of sea buckthorn oil. If you already use a "regular" facial moisturizer, you can easily just add a couple drops of evening primrose oil and mix it in your palm. These EPO softgels from NOW Foods provide a 'megadose' of evening primrose oil. I take one daily, along with using topical EPO as a moisturizer as mentioned above, and my skin looks and feels great.

effective against PMS symptoms
I have been struggling with extreme PMS symptoms (maybe even PMDD at this point) for over a year that had gradually worsened, and brought me to a state of near desperation. I was buying/trying every supplement known to man that mentioned any effect on PMS on top of the antidepressants and psychotherapy, and of course Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) was one of the first natural remedies to surface in my research. Now after several months of trial and error with many different things, I think I've narrowed down the things that help and the things that don't. I know the EPO helps. I don't have any menstrual pain when I take these throughout the month, and I no longer have "period breakouts" to add to the mental anguish that is my hellish luteal phase. Speaking of skin, I pop 2 capsules with a pin and squeeze the oil into a 3 oz bottle of my face moisturizer. I do small batches because I've heard EPO can become oxidize quickly. It has turned my so-so moisturizer into the perfect product for my combination skin. Try it. I know it sounds like it would make you break it, but you'll be amazed. Your skin loves EPO. I buy the NOW brand because I trust this brand. I've purchased a lot of their supplements, and they are always super good quality (like always consistent from bottle to bottle, no broken caplets, etc), and when you read their bottles they usually have really useful information. They also have a great website explaining their products too. Also, note that this EPO is hexane free. Make sure whatever EPO you purchase whether it's this one or not, that it's solvent and hexane free.

Great for keeping adult acne clear!
I've been using NOW Super Primrose 1300mg softgels for a while and they work great. I've used much more expensive brands and didn't find any difference in efficacy. These are great quality without being ridiculously priced. I started taking Evening Primrose Oil after my doctor told me to try it (I never would have thought to otherwise) mainly to keep my skin clear from adult acne that's resulting from hormonal fluctuations. It also has helped with making some of my PMS symptoms less severe. I ran out of my last bottle a couple of weeks ago and kept forgetting to get more. Regretting that, my skin has been broken out since a couple of days after running out of the last bottle. One thing I'll mention is that the softgels are fairly large. I don't find them difficult to take but if you have difficulty swallowing pills, you might want to try getting a smaller dose per softgel (maybe in a larger count so the bottle lasts longer?) so the softgels are much smaller and take what would be about the same dose as these.
