Live At Rockpalast

Terrific show with Ian in his prime.
Ian at the peak of his powers as a solo artist with Mick Ronson helping to front the band, this show was from a tour I caught him on (I believe I saw him in San Francisco). This is a strong set with both the audio (on CD) and video (region free DVD in NTSC). The video portion has some image weaknesses due to the source tape but it’s still worth picking up and seeing.Be aware this,is the fill set that was broadcast but isn’t a full Ian Hunter show running around 74 minutes with 13 tracks. The track listing:FBIOnce Bitten Twice ShyAngelineLaugh at MeIrene WildeI Wish I Was Your MotherJust Another NightWe Gotta Get Out of HereBastardAll The Way From MemphisCleveland RocksAll The Young DudesSlaughter on 10th AvenueThis was typical of his set list for 1979-1981.The set list is the same for the DVD and CD (same show) and comes in a digipak with a plastic well to put the discs in. The booklet is in both German and English. The audio quality varies from very good to decent.

A legend
A personal fave in Mr. Hunter....countless shows , countless listening hours.Very similar to "Welcome To The Club" , this recording is an excellent representation of Ian's shows of this era.The energy is high , as always , and the performances are top=notch.Ian has been , and continues to be , one of our greatest , intellectual songwriters. You can't go wrong with ANY of his records.

Ian Hunter Live at Rockpalast Feat. Mick Ronson
Terrific sound and performance in front of a well-lubricated crowd of Germanics, but this is just an abbreviated version of the excellent LP Welcome to the Club. If you own that on CD you don't need this at all. The only fault with this sterling set is the endless, embarrassing call-and-response of Cleveland Rocks. Mick Ronson must have hit the can during that part.....

Awesome
Welcome to the club basically...with the DVD as a bonus. Well recorded.

Gotta have this!
I love this CD. The sound quality is great. I love hearing Ian and Mick at this point in their careers, mainly because this is the time that I was able to meet the lads, but that is another story. I love the song set and it brings back many memories of seeing them in concert at the Roxy in Hollywood, one big difference is I don't hear my my loud "seal" hands clapping after "Irene Wilde" like you hear on "Welcome to the Club", of course I don't get the sounds of my friends yelling between the songs. Even if you own "Welcome to the Club" you should buy this CD, it is a great live album. I also bought the DVD, I have previewed it and it also seems great. I will write a review on the DVD after viewing all of it.

The Hunter/Ronson Band Live
An excellent recording from the long running German TV program Rockpalast, it's basically "Welcome to the Club"Hunters early 80's live album featuring the late great Mick Ronson, well worth investing in, it covers all periods of Ian Hunters career plus a couple of Ronson tracks, give it a go, you won't be disappointed

ICONS in Germany ( Mick and Ian ) on the Road trip of a lifetime...lan is now a staple in almost every CD order I place recently
Mick and Ian have had parallel careers their whole lives, they both started out playing back up for David Bowie, broke away from that to start out on their own as MOTT THE HOOPLE, Mick being the lead guitarist for that band. Later he would leave that position to go solo and that was a great move as he truly was a solo act, his talent was simply that great. He has left us all now taken by Cancer far too early in his life. Mick had a number of solo discs but they are a small number and require some searching for if you wish to discover them..also none of them come at a cheap price...such is the cost of fame i suppose. This disc was fairly reasonable and it was not so difficult to find while a great number of his other titles can be fairly difficult to come across and expensive when you do come across one. ROCKPALAST is the name of an all night LIVE rock show played in Germany. I had seen the name a few times of late but i truly did not know the real meaning of the word.
