... music system for a customer and they were quite excellent! I hope Specialty-AV will continue to sell these ...
I used 2 of these on a distributed single zone music system for a customer and they were quite excellent! I hope Specialty-AV will continue to sell these because I will continue to purchase them! First, they are very heavy for a small piece of non-powered electronics, and they were built like a tank - each speaker terminal rock solid and the switches and volume controls solid with a very satisfying feel. If you've ever spent time stripping 14 gauge speaker wire and trying to fit the wire into the small little holes in the standard speaker selector's connection plug or the push-pin type connector and keeping a 'clean' connection, you'll really appreciate the ability to use banana plugs to make all the connections - SO MUCH EASIER!!! And the sound quality was outstanding, too! Many impedance matching devices, i.e. volume controls, speaker selectors, attenuate the volume so much that they can many times be unusable - you cannot get any volume out of the speakers no matter how much you turn up the volume control. These seemed to have zero impact on the volume of the system! I had expected some kind of decrease in volume once the selector was in place, but I was able to get amazing amount of sound out of each speaker zone, and I didn't even have to turn the volume control knob really high on the receiver that I was using, which kept the receiver nice and cool! Great product!!

better construction/quality
i had bought a few of the cheaper pyle switches on amazon- they only allow for 16 gauge wire and are cheap little POSs. I gave in when one of those pyle switches stopped working and paid up for this switch- super solid and heavy and high quality. get what you pay for. works great.

Works as described.
Works as described. I connected to one amp, and 3 pairs of speakers. It's a little heavy for it's size, seems well built. I like the banana jack binding posts.

Did not last....
Initially I was really impressed with the unit. It seemed to be well built and worked well. Then suddenly, after exactly two months from the day of purchase, for no apparent reason one of the knobs stopped rotating. I have to apply absolutely.enormous force to make it move in either direction. It still "controls" the volume, but it is pretty much impossible to rotate that damn thing. The unit did not experience any impacts. It was just sitting on the shelf with all the wires attached (it was fully plugged-in with 4 pairs of speakers and 2 amplifiers attached).. I have removed the unit from my audio system and now thinking what to do with it ... Since the two months have passed, I cannot return it.. I will try to contact the seller to see if they would be willing to replace the unit....

Terminal post not working.
Worked great til I got to the 3rd output. One of the terminals didn’t work. At first I thought it was my wiring. But no, it’s the post. Too bad because til then it was working perfectly

has much better binding posts compared to the spring loaded versions
Solid, versatile switch. All passive components, the mechanical construction is the main quality attribute: has much better binding posts compared to the spring loaded versions, knobs and switches feel solid. Makes the audio distribution very easy. Allows multiple speaker connection in parallel, without compromising the amplifier output impedance. Allows individual zone adjustment for spatial sound distribution or to compensate differences between speaker loudness.

Amazon sold banana plugs that won't fit
The speakers selector switch has worked faultlessly for two years. I got tired of connecting the speaker wires "by hand" so bought (From Amazon) a bunch of banana plugs. The plugs don't fit into the sockets on the switch (the "bottom out" in the female recptacle at about one half in. Must I return the the plugs or am I missing something elementary?
