Seems like a cool laptop ... but not that cool after using it for some time :(
Best budget 17 incher with a beautiful IPS screen and decent performance! While glossy screens will always look prettier, this matt IPS screen is more practical and almost as beautiful. Great laptop for movies. The 10th-gen Intel i5-1035G1 CPU is great for the mainstream stuff that I do, including 4K videos. I don't game or video-edit, so this processor has more juice than required for me. Its SSD is fast! Though everything is plastic, the laptop doesn't feel cheap. Why? Coz the carbon-fibre-like surfacing on the top lid and the keyboard really make it fee like a classy product. Nice! While other budget laptops warps, this Dell feel stiff and solid. Unlike Acer products, Dell actually has a useful SD-card slot which I use daily. The keyboard is decent for typing. However, I don't quite like it that the keys are smaller size than those on the standard desktop keyboards. The touchpad is sensitive and accurate for the most part, except the over-sensitive left-click portion on the bottom left. Internals are easily degradable. Will be adding another 8GB + a 2.5 inch SSD soon. Sound is pretty loud for a laptop. I happen to like stiff hinges, coz screen won't flex/wobble. Laptop is not light though - ~3 kg, but expected for a 17 incher. Battery life is shorter than I'd like - only about 5 hours max from full-charge for normal usage. While laptop feels cool to the touch when using, the CPU temperature is BAD. Dell must have prioritized silence over heat dissipation. The fan can hardly be heard, so laptop is quiet for most part. I wish the fan would spin up more often. Why? Coz even on normal usage, the CPU temperature hovers between 80 to 100 degrees ... and the CPU is spec-ed at 100 degrees max! Moreover, this is with my CoolerMaster L1 laptop cooler blowing right under it! While I don't feel any hiccup in performance due to the high internal temperatures, this constant high CPU temperature will likely mean this Dell laptop will not have a long lifespan. Other than this temperature CON, the Dell Inspiron 17 3793 is still a great buy. BTW, the delivery service was fast and in good condition. Overall, Highly Recommended! Update (8 months later): No problem with audio-visual interfaces. HDMI works fine when outputting to 4K TV. Audio jack works fine with external speakers and headsets. Probably due to updates to the system, now I can hear short burst of the internal fan spinning up, but high temperatures close to 100 degrees remains. This laptop doesn't open up fully flat on the table. If you need that, then go for the even cheaper Lenovo alternative with a few short-comings compared to this Dell Inspiron. Update (1+ years): Liking this laptop less and less. Why? (1) Does not display 4K (& I heard 1440p) in external monitor/TV. Disappointed! The CPU's integrated graphics is fully capable of 4K60hz, and the HDMI port, I heard is specified as HDMI 1.4b. No reason why we cannot output to a 4K display! Though users have feedback to Dell, nothing was done to address it. (2) Short battery. Even under normal usage, the battery lasts me only 3 hours max. Shorter than expected. Heavy lifting will result in 2 only. (3) High temps. Despite doing nothing out of the ordinary, literally all CPU cores will hit 100 degrees after a short while. Despite all the patches from Dell, the internal fan is still hardly activated to do its job - to rev up and cool the laptop. (4) Tiny keys. Prone to typing errors. Why Dell chose to install small keys on the largest 17-inch laptop is beyond me. My next laptop will be a keyboard with full-sized keys. (5) Keyboard not backlit. While it's not a CON, as I'm well aware of this missing feature when I chose this laptop, I now feel the need for it as I do a lot of my inputs in the dark. Definitely a must-have for my next laptop.

Good laptop
Very nice laptop. I just use for school i can have several windows going and hooked up to multiple monitors and have yet to have it lags bit. It does create quite a bit of noise from the fan I'm guessing but doesnt seem to cause issues yet

Beware the hard drive may not be clean!
This computer had been owned by another person before me. It was a big hassle to prove ownership when I needed tech support. It was supposed to be clean. After all my files were loaded, it became clear that the other person's presence was still on there. I had to change the zip code for all stores locations. Never again will I buy from a third party. The computer was fine other than that.

Paid $1700 Direct through Dell Please Read before you Buy
Its all my fault I went form a Mac to a Dell due to cost I have had the computer for 2 years I have Tech out twice once due to a bad hard drive, once due to not charging. I did get the extended. warranty and purchased it again for $350 for a year because I was having so many issues with this laptop. Last week it stopped loading pages and was running super slow, I reached out to Tech Support it was a 7 hour process they have me work with someone online then a person took over computer to do all the same things we did for 5 hours. In the end I had to wipe the computer because of some unknown "Dell issue" and I was told I might need to buy a new hard drive because mine was "an older model" even when the laptop is only 2 years old, but it gets better I would not only have to pay for the new HD I would have to pay the Tech to come do it!!! Yes the $350 warranty does not cover their bad hard drives, in the end I had a friend wipe the computer and started over, but it still wont load correctly when you start it to out your "security password in" My advice is stay away from these computers Dell does not guarantee anything and after 2 years and paying almost 2K for it I am more then disappointed in the computer and Dell Next I am going back to a MAC! AND I will buy through Amazon at least they would help with the issues.

Dell has audio interface problems and a terrible warranty
Dell seems to have audio interface problems. If you plan to connect any kind of external audio - microphone, audio interface, monitor - Don't Buy Dell. On top of that their return and warranty policy is horrible. You only get 30 days from the date of purchase. So if it takes a week to get shipped to you and another week for you to set it up, you only have two weeks left to discover if there are these audio issues with your particular applications.

Missing a feature.
This specific listing said it had USB-C but the item delivered did not. I had to return and it took 3 weeks to get my money refunded.
