Great read for women who like poems and will actually read it.

She is Fierce: Brave, Bold and Beautiful Poems by Women is a collection of 150 poems written by women on a wide range of subjects. It includes everything from old favourites you may have already come across to new and modern voices, poems written by women of all different ages, races and from across different social and economic backgrounds.It can be really hard to review poetry because it is so subjective but what's great about an anthology like this is that even if one poem isn't to your taste you can almost guarantee to find gems that you'll love and discover writers you'd like to see more of. I really liked the way Ana Sampson has also included a little mini biography for each poet at the back of the book so you can find out a little more about each woman's background and other works they may have published.This has been a great book to dip in and out of and you can choose to read by theme or just open a page at random to see what you'l discover. I've really enjoyed reading this slowly, just reading a handful of poems a day to really savour it and I'm sure I'll end up coming back to it again in the future.

Great collection of poetry from familiar, lost and emerging names. I kind of want a volume 2.

A great collection of poetry from badass women!! Not the greatest quality publication but a great collection.

The problem with books where the poems are all by different writers, is there will always be some better than others. It's the same with this. There were some poems I would rate 5, and others I would only give 2 to.

Most poetry collections are disproportionately weighted in favour of men (no, go on, check, it's usually around the ten per cent mark), so to have so many female voices in one volume is unusual. While there are some you may recognise, for me the number of new voices and styles I had not read before was a revelation. The potted biographies at the back are a brilliant idea, and gives further content to these incredible voices. I've given away four as presents already, and the reactions are overwhelmingly positive. This is a collection of women, but not solely for women.

Full of lovely poetry of varying styles to keep everyone happy (a few duds, but that’s just my taste)
