Liberalism: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)

Good description of liberal strands
I did liked it, because it let me understand the different types of liberalism in existence, and those expressions that call themselves liberalism, but fall short of it. Though because it's a short book, I found it laking in depth about non-welfare state liberalisms.

This man knows the academic/intellectual side of liberalism.
Very good, sometimes a downer and shocker.

Short and effective
This book sorted out the confusions I've had over the word "liberal" more than any other book I've read. The metaphors of explanation work.

The Very Short Introductions are a major educational resource. There are presently over 500 small books covering a very wide range of subjects. Although short, the Introductions are substantial in content. Everyone would benefit from reading these books to broaden their knowledge and understanding in diverse areas of life. Perseverance with some subjects may be required but be prepared to be surprised, enlightened and enriched.

Presents very well the chronology of all waves of liberalism, a complex network of waves sometimes contradicting themselves from Locke, Smith and Mill to TH Green.. Arguably one the fifth layer of liberalism presented here is not really considered liberalism by most liberals (anti western political correctness).

Liberalism is the way to move forward
The book was very explicit. It dealt with every facet that Liberalism entails. The main theme throughout was that the liberal approach always aimed at making life better, easier and more livable for the average family. For those individuals who hold Conservative views, allocating funds to move society forward amounts to wasting precious hard-earned dollars. As society gets more and more sophisticated, regularly looking for what is on the other side of the mountain is the way to go. Time does not stand still for anyone. Great book! Only wish I could remember more of it.
