Portable Ultra Violet Black Light lamp & Torch. UV Blacklight

Needed a UV light to check documents at work. Works great for the purpose; though the light is not strong and is practically redundant in ambient light environments. Also proves a fun gadget. After a while you start discovering random security marks on things (have a look at your driving licence). Highly recommended for all other than industrial uses. NOTE: DOES NOT INCLUDE THE BATTERIES.

Arrived securely packed in three days. My initial impressions were that this little UV light was quite cheap and plasticky. In particular, the three-way Torch/Off/UV switch has a rather sloppy action and is not always easy to set to the desired position. But, fair's fair; this IS a very cheap device and the bottom line is that it works. After inserting the 4 x AA batteries, being careful to observe polarity, I switched on and the mini UV tube fired instantly into life. It's not the brightest but, in a fairly dark room, it is very effective. I used it to check which corners a cat had been using for a toilet and, yes the parfum de chat does fluoresce under this light - provided you hold the lamp within a couple of feet of the affected surface. Obviously, if you're using this to check the authenticity of banknotes, you'll need to pass the light over them even closer, and again this works very well - I never knew the 10 in a £10 note could look so colourful! You obviously can't expect great quality at this bargain basement price, but for a very modest outlay, with postage included, it's hard to fault this effective little UV light.

This is exactly what you get when you pay p-nuts,the switch is very hard to use there is no click when you switch it to any of the functions,the uv light is very short range unless youre in a dark enviroment even then its not going to light up a room,i cant see this product lasting long if im goint to start using it on a daily basis for checking notes.Also the bulb keeps coming undone and the uv bulb cover is very hit and miss to get on and off,pay p-nuts you get................

Fabulous for finding where you cat has urinated. When they do it in many places you can get to the point of just smelling cats pee everywhere. This light helped me find the areas and clean them thoroughly.

I bought this light together with a UV marker pen as part of an art project. The light works great in the dark, as expected, but what surprised me is that it worked quite well in daylight too. I mean, I had to hold it closer to the surface of course. But since I was making my art during the day (of course) it came in handy being able to see clearly what I was doing. I didn't really need much use of the torch but it was quite bright. My only problem was the switch, it's quite sensitive so when I was carrying the torch in my bag it would keep turning on and off. So it's best kept in one place.

Absolute rubbish, I gave this one star because there was no option to give zero. I bought this to check phosphor bands on stamps, as the answers say it can be used, but I could see better by just holding the stamp up to a light. The item itself feels even cheaper than the price suggests. As mentioned in other comments there are no instructions, the markings for the batteries are difficult to see and it is fiddly to get the battery cover back on. The three position switch feels as if it could break at any time the whole thing feels fragile. When I first tried the lamp the results were dismal as I mentioned at first then I noticed one of the previous answers suggests removing the plastic cover. I tried this and am not sure that the cover is supposed to be removed as the plastic tabs securing it broke as soon as I removed the cover. I threw it in the bin minutes after opening it. I suggest you save the money.

We have just moved into a property. Previous owners had small dog who had left it's mark all over. I cleaned the carpets lots of times but the odour was still there. Did some research online & found we needed a black light before we could deal with the problem. So ordered this one . It took a while to arrive but it was certainly worth the wait. This shows all the marks where this pooch had been, So was able to deal with the problem swiftly. Great tool for the money.

Brilliant value for money at £3.54, ordered on the Sunday & came on the Thursday so delivery was respectable. Really handy with the torch on the side too but the only slight problem was that the UV light wasn't that bright (little rhyme there :D) so I couldn't use it in a bright room with a few windows or outside which ins't the best if I wanted to check money when I was out & about & the on/off button was slightly awkward because you have to balance it between the UV lamp & torch settings. Overall I would definitely recommend this product because it's value for money & works. Also I would suggest getting a Permanent Ultra Violet UV Marker Pen to write on your belonging if they ever got stolen or to just mess around with.
