Brings me back to my childhood when I loved watching monster movies! Extremely happy with the purchase!

What better way to pass a few moments on a rainy Halloween afternoon than to write up a monster review I meant to take care of well over a month ago and forgot (D'oh!)First off, how about that Mego Corporation!? Who would have thought; in 2019, that you could walk into a store and purchase a brand new Mego right off the shelf? Simply amazing. From time to time, old, forgotten toylines rise from the dead on occasion; but the company that made them? Almost never. Being born after Mego went belly-up back in the day; it's a real treat to see this legendary, pioneering company make such a comeback in my time. I can't imagine how joyful collectors who grew up with the original Mego must feel.This Mego Mummy is very special to me for a couple of reasons. First off, it's the very first Mego item I've ever owned in my life! Secondly, the Mummy is my favorite classic monster!Now, Mego released a Mummy back in their heyday; in their fun but wonky Mad Monsters series (very colorful to say the least!) but that particular Mummy doesn't hold much appeal for me. Just like the movies of Karloff and Chaney Jr.; the figure looked too much like a guy in a costume than it did an actual mummy.Luckily, that's not the case with Mego's new Egyptian Mummy! His headsculpt features a fully bandaged face; revealing little more than beady eyes and a few teeth in a delightfully somewhat crooked mouth. The body is literally wrapped in gauze/bandages; looking far more authentic than the one-piece worn by the Mummy Mego made back in the 70s. He's also not a clean and pristine white; but instead looks quite filthy and dirty; which of course makes him look even better.Also, another cool thing about this quite monstrous Mummy is that he comes with an accessory; which isn't always the case with Mego figures; depending. He comes with a neat little canopic jar; likely containing what remains of his ancient intestines! It's nice to have something for him to hold, if that's your pleasure.These modern Mego toys are numbered (how many of each I don't know; I've heard everything from 10,000 to 20,000) and I own #127 of the Egyptian Mummy. Not a terribly low number; but his card's in excellent shape; I have a protective case for him; and since I plan on getting him signed by Mister Mego himself, Marty Abrams next month; I figure I better keep him sealed in his plastic tomb!These Mego figures are very fun and very cool. In an age of retro-this and vintage-that; Mego has risen from the ashes to give us the real deal once more! Not reproductions. Not customs. But real, honest to goodness Mego in 2019!These 8" figures have a ton of articulation, real cloth and soft good outfits/clothing and pretty nice sculpts too; all for $15 on average. In this day and age; what's a better value, toy-wise? I only own two Mego figures thus far; but I'm craving so many more. I fear these will be terribly collectable for me; and that's exciting.
