I'm not soldering (yet) but have found the Kotto "third-hand" tool indispensable for charm-bracelet-making. The base is quite weighty (just wish it wasn't so school-bus yellow), the magnetic base of the arms super strong, and the underneath rubber feet (comes with 4 extra) keep it stable even when the surface is uneven. The flexible arms are perfect for positioning whatever and wherever you need them to go. In the photo, I'm using the inner arms to stabilize the outer arms further, allowing me to put pressure on the bracelet as I'm working on it. The claws are easily adjustable to any position, and their rubber caps (4 more included) protect the soft sterling silver of the jewelry. Very happy with this purchase.

This is a quality product! Outstanding finish! I use it for my macro photography. The "arms" are flexible but strong enough to stay in place. Highly recommend this product.

I like this a lot, but the arms are a bit stiff and don't really stay in the position you put them in. I love the base plate, and the magnets are very strong. When you place an arm somewhere on the plate it stays there really well, but the arms don't stay bent the way you'd want them. I've also had a few issues with the clips falling out, and one of the clip protectors melted while I was soldering (never had that happen before). I might just buy new arms, but keep the plate. Also it's a really nice yellow :)

I bought this to assist working on model aeroplanes. I build mostly WWI. This is a soldering tool, but it serves well while rigging biplanes or attaching small parts or subassemblies. I cannot think of anything bad to say about it. If it gets fatigued, it hasn’t said anything to me. The heavy metal plate stabilizes my work . The heavy duty magnets anchor the flexible arms. I wish I had found this sooner. Highly recommended!

This is just too good. I don't usually write reviews, but I have to on this piece. Incredible quality, especially given the price. They even give you extra rubber feet and hardware in case you lose something. The magnets on the arms are good and strong; they won't move out of place unless YOU move them. Durable powder coated finish on the base, and even the bottom is completely finished. The instructions are simple enough, but they are written such that you can tell the manufacturer WANTS you to be happy with their product. Amazing in this day - people that actually care. Five stars cuz I can't give it six. Oh, and it's also nice that they offer it without the soldering iron holder. If you don't need it, you can save a couple bucks. I added it - certainly worth $2.00!

The media could not be loaded. It is super easy to assemble. The magnetic connection is incredibly strong, and I like the Ability to adjust magnets on the project you’re doing. It’s definitely stable and very robust for its size. The only problem I had is one of the arms with the alligator clips had a stripped screw so the alligator clip was just slide on and off. I’m gonna send it back and hopefully get another one that works properly, if that didn’t exist, this would be a five star product for sure.

This is a great product. The arms are stiff enough, each. The alligator clips are threaded & lock in any orientation. Double or triple up on arms if you're soldering with a lot of pressure.The metal base if hefty, the magnets are strong, the package included 2 extra clips as well as 4 extra rubber feet. I truly felt like this came from a N. American factory, as the quality is exponentially greater than a Chinese variant and, the company displayed generosity.I'm looking very forward to using it.

This is an excellent helping hands set. The magnets are good and strong and keep the accessories firmly attached. Having the accessories attach magnetically is a terrific benefit. They can be stuck arbitrarily on any magnetic surface, not just the included plate. Speaking of the base plate it is nice and thick. It provides great stability for attaching the accessories to with enough weight to it to stay put. The included silicone feet provide a nice grip. Finally, a word about the accessories. The iron holder works well and stays put nicely. It's not too wide, so it may not work so well for all-in-one irons that tend to be larger and heavier, but for an iron only connected to a base driver station it's perfect. The 4 included arms are all the same length - just over 30 cm with the gator clips attached. The goose-neck construction is solid and works very well. The arms bend freely and hold their position well. The freedom to position them on any magnetic surface offers great flexibility. The rotation mechanism for the gator clips is dead simple - it's basically just a thumb nut that tightens against the screw on base of the gator clip. Despite the simplicity, though, they work remarkably well. They're very easy to use and allow the gator clip to spin freely when unlocked, and keeps them securely locked in place when engaged. The included silicone tips for the gator clips slide on easily and hold firmly in place. They seem very robust and provide great protection against the teeth of the gator clips. All-in-all this is a great piece of kit. It would make an ideal addition to any soldering station.

I ordered this on the 17th, and it arrived from USA on 23rd. How good is that? The item is just what i needed, I will be using this for other jobs, as well as soldering. All the items are well made and look to be able to be used for other projects. I particularly like the strength of the magnets they are nice and strong and not Some poor excuse for a magnet. Feels nice and substantial looks good on my work area. Now all i need is a new project to use it on.! Definitely recommend this, as it takes the hassle out of trying to hold items whilst repairing or modifying part. I wonder how i ever managed without it before.
