Buy with extreme confidence
Very robust, capable and true 6 dbd 5/8 over 5/8 antenna (I uncoiled one just to verify the advertised gain which was exact to the cm in length). I live at 2900 feet above sea level. I can simplex easily up to 50-80 line of sight miles at 40 watts, the same for repeaters, sometime further if atmospheric conditions are good. Every Midland MXTA26 I have bought has been a perfect flat swr of 1.00 out of the package. Buy in total confidence!

Great Antenna - designed for GMRS, can work for HAM bands but SWR was high (5+:1)
So I got this antenna out of the box and was immediately impressed with its build quality. It looks good, and it handled highway speeds with no issue. In town signal reception was good, and I had no issues hitting the repeater with a strong signal putting out 25 watts. However, when I borrowed my buddies RigExpert to check the SWR on the VHF band, my SWR was 5:1 or higher across. The RigExpert only went to 230mhz, I couldn't check the UHF band to see what it was doing up there, but it was resonant at 81.7mhz and below 2:1 SWR above 219. I know that there are factors inside my control that I could change to see if I could get a better match, but decided to check the Midland website to see the antennas specs. Here was the description I read this morning: "Expand GMRS two-way radio range by quadrupling signal output in wide-open spaces with limited obstructions and a flexible design fit for the elements" So the antenna is tuned and intended for use on GMRS frequencies between 462-467mhz as stated by the manufacturer. So if you are operating GMRS mobile, then by all means, I can recommend the antenna for build and quality. If you are operating on the amateur bands (2m<144-148mhz> and 70cm <420-450mhz>) I would consider something else.

Best mobile antenna I have ever had.
I have this antenna on both rigs and can hit 2 repeaters up in the mountain 90 miles away. Rugged construction too.

Works well, just the right size
Perfect size for the Jeep, transmits and receives well. SWR almost perfect out of the package.

Great clarity and range
I have a Midland MXT 500. I could barely reach 80 miles with the stock 3 inch antenna with this new 36 inch Midland MXTA 26. I now can reach up to 100 miles easily and clearly. Only hiccup was the transportation but that’s a different review.

Great Great Antenna
Great antenna. I installed by drilling into the roof of my truck. I don’t have a meter to check SWR but I get a lot of compliments about how good my signal is and people want to know what antenna I’m using. I’m going to buy a meter to check it but at this point I’m almost scared to because I might mess something up. I would definitely buy again and I highly recommend it
