EISCO Raw Galena, Mineral Specimen - Approx. 1" - Geologist Selected & Hand Processed - Great for Science Classrooms

Excellent for teaching demonstration.

I usually only want the larger size, I really wanted this Galena for learning. This seller sends beautiful specimens, also, I understand that Galena is a solid color and texture. I use these rocks for identification purposes in my geology classes. These came in six assorted shapes and sizes. Perfect for studying Geology.

I ordered the six pack and got very nice specimens exactly as described. My complaint is about the packaging. All six were placed in a plastic bag together then packed in a small cardboard box with newspaper padding all on one side of the box. While small chips and nicks aren’t a serious problem for these particular stones the end result of this poor packaging is stones plus a lot of leaded dust. Messy plus not a great thing to breathe in. Use caution when opening.

It was way too small. Said the item was 1 in. It was approximately 3/8 of an inch. Very disappointed

If you are using these to teach mineral properties beyond metallic luster, don't bother. The price is reasonable but I guess you you get what you pay for. There is hardly and pieces with cubic cleavage and so they cannot effectively be used for mineral identification inquiry. I am disappointed. I essentially paid the price for two galena cubes. The rest can not be used. After reading reviews I believed I would receive nice specimens with cubic cleavage but no such luck.

It's pretty nicely cut, but its about 1 cm by 1 cm, not 1 inch

I needed this product for Geology. Gotta admit, kind of cool and shiny and no it’s not a Rock, but a mineral. Again, needed this for class to compare and do labs. Glad I got a great price on it as well!

Thought I would try this to see if it worked. As well as my razor blade detector .
