Deactivated my aacounts
I deactivated my social media accounts post reading this book. Although it felt little extra long at the end, i agree with the author he has given me the words to express feelings that i always had while using social media.

Brilliant book.
Makes a convincing argument that social media in its present form is a force for disharmony in our world.

A book possibly relevant for every homosapien on the planet
As the internet becomes part of everyone's life in every country around the world, this book is potentially the foundation for understanding what is happening with social media, our brains, the companies that run social media, our society, and truly the impact of it all. A great read, a quick read, and potentially a game changer/ perspective enlightener for anyone willing to open their mind. I bought this book and read it in 2018, promptly deleted all my social media (*), and have steered clear ever since.* I will admit, I am a glutton for Google products, and also YouTube.. I suppose I'm not innocent in any way, shape or form, is it possible to any of us could avoid social media? C'est la vie!

Left me motivated, optimistic, and refreshed
This is the type of book that leaves you feeling refreshed, optimistic, and motivated. Jaron Lanier writes beautifully and engagingly - I will continue to talk about and recommend this book to anyone who will listen! I am hopeful that people who have read this book (or are aware of the arguments Lanier presents) are able to spread awareness enough to eventually drive the change we need.

Scary, eye opening and a must read
This was written over 5 years ago now but the message is even more important. What’s frightening is, he alluded to a few ‘future’ practices of social media companies that have now come to pass. His predictions were right and will probably continue he to come true as these greedy companies plot to get you to spend as much time on social media as is possible.Remember, on ‘free’ social media, that YOU are the product.I read this book and deleted my social media accounts within days. I’m done being exploited.Absolutely vital reading if you’ve ever felt aggravated, anxious, depressed or otherwise after using social media (showing you upsetting and offensive posts with awful comments is part of the manipulation). This book should be handed out to teenagers at school.
