About the Book: 7 Secrets Of Shiva Shiva, the destroyer among the Hindu trinity (of gods), is depicted in many contradictory manners. He is an ascetic who wears animal skin, his body smeared with ashes. Contradictory to his wild nature, he is also depicted as having a family, with a beautiful wife and two children. There are many more such varied representations of Shiva, the most prominent of these being the Linga and the Nataraja. The author, Devdutt Pattanaik, introduces the readers to these varied aspects and representations, and then sets about interpreting them. He explains the different anomalies and conflicts in beliefs, as well as the symbolism, rituals and reasons behind Hindu worship. About the Author: Devdutt Pattanaik Devdutt Pattanaik was trained in medicine, and worked in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry for fifteen years, before turning his part-time passion for mythology into his full-time profession. He has authored over six hundred articles and over thirty books on the relevance of sacred stories, symbols and rituals in modern times. He is a much sought after corporate speaker and acts as a consultant to organisations on matters related to leadership and culture. Deep dive into the world of Lord Vishnu
This is my first read of 2026 and I'm glad to pick this one up. As a devotee of Lord Vishnu, I was intrigued to know the origin story and how everything in life transpired. A bit of non-linear storytelling in between disturbs the flow, but overall, a very well written book and definitely, an enjoyable one too.

Good read
This is a good book which summarily captures the stories of human avatars of Lord Vishnu. One thing that I found odd was Kalki avataar of lord Vishnu, which is yet to incarnate has been mentioned with skepticism by drawing parallels to its details - riding horse and carrying sword as weapon- with that of sword wielding mauraders from North west and Mongolia.

Few new information
Similar to 7 secrets fo Shiva, this book also dives deep into Hindu culture and practices. While 7 secrets of Shiva focuses on spritual reality this books leans more towards material world and reality. There are few factual errors in this books that conflicts with the information provided in the 7 secrets of Shiva.

Very Insightful
I really liked the way subtle things are explained in so much depth and relativism. People would get a deeper insight regarding different aspects and understanding about Lord Vishnu
