Covert Coin, US Half Dollar with Hidden Storage Compartment

Very good. It is a bit hard to close but a small compromise for how perfect it looks. You would have absolutely no clue that there is anything wrong with it by looking at it up close. Even the tiny seam of where the parts comes together (if you have a magnifying glass) looks identical to the minting markings of a real one. An sd card fits tightly and will not knock around or make any noise. You could easily fold up a small piece of paper as well. The only thing even slightly different is the weight. It is very slightly lighter as it is hollowed out but there’s not much you can do about that. It weighs 8.1g with an sd card versus a real one is 11.3g. You can barely tell the different even if you hold them but something to mention. In the photo, the 2023 coin is the product

This coin will pass for a real half-dollar except when jingled with other coins. Even at that, most people cannot detect what is different.

Bally expensive but the half-dollar coin does indeed hold a micro-SD with zero trouble. When closed, seems indistinguishable from a regular half-dollar. I imagine customs officials everywhere are well aware of things like these, so I'm not sure how useful they are for actual smuggling, but my various half-pint relatives will find them amusing novelties in their stockings this Christmas.

Coin is very convincing when closed, and because half dollar coins are uncommon, most people won't be able to tell that there is anything strange about the coin.

Works well, I had another one from a few years ago (not sure who from) that didn't have as easy a way to separate the two pieces. Good quality "spy stuff" to have just in case. =)

Thought it'd be a cute present. Drop it on the table and it pops open. Will NOT hold a Micro-SD card without some extra reaming with a dremel tool. Then the next problem will be to figure a spot in the rotation of the tails side that sticks enough to hold it closed against even minimal drops. Guaranteed that rotation will not line up in a way the US Mint intended, for the purists out there. The milling-out of the interior is not as spacious as the picture. It's close enough that a little work will fit the micro-SD, but that is it. Call up your russian buddies and get some surplus microdot equipment before you try this. For the twenty bucks they're asking, I just have to say don't bother with it.
