Quick, easy read--and well paced
If I were looking at this as a literary book, I'd probably give it one star. But this book tries to be nothing more than it is: a mystery written for Christian kids. And while I'm not a great reader of Christian fiction, since this was free I decided to give it a shot. Since I didn't expect a bestseller, I was pleasantly surprised at the more-than-competent writing. I actually did like the main character (though I would have liked to have seen a decently developed secondary character), I had a very good idea of what the settings looked like, and I was actually interested in what happened in the end. The prose flowed smoothly, the story was interesting, and all in all, it was much more fun as a quick read than I had expected. Since I teach kids, I like to read prose geared towards them as often as I can, and in this one I found a work that I think Christian kids can relate to and enjoy. (Since I teach in a public school, though, I obviously won't be putting a copy in the library!)

Nice Middle Grade Mystery
This book is the first in the Faithgirlz mystery series. Jeri is disappointed when her mother tells her that she is unable to visit her at boarding school for parents day but that disappointment is quickly overshadowed when her roommates bus doesn't return from a field trip and no one knows what happened to them. Jeri was interested in becoming an investigative reporter after they had a visit from one at the school. So Jeri begins to try to figure out what happened to Rosa and the other students.Jeri collects clues and solves the problem. There are lots of suspicious people and events for her to sort out. She almost gets lost in a blizzard while following a clue too. This was a very nice middle grade mystery that is also the start of a series. I thought the story was well-written and realistic. I did wonder at times about how Jeri could investigate without some adult checking on her whereabouts a few times though. I recommend them for middle graders who like mysteries.

Vanished Rocks!
Twelve-year-old Jeri McKane knew that attending boarding school hundreds of miles from home would be hard, but she never imagined anything like this. Her mom— too busy even to answer Jeri’s phone calls and emails—sends the devastating word that she can’t make it to Parents’ Weekend. Then the school bus carrying Jeri’s roommate Rosa mysteriously disappears. A natural sleuth, Jeri knows there are leads to be followed and follows her instincts to discover new dimensions of faith and courage. Can Jeri continue to trust God even in the most confusing of times?

Like it
I'm reading the book and I like it, but couldn't get my 9 years old son to read it, since I basically bought it for him, just because the cover design says it's a girls book. How it looks makes it only girls book.

Awesome read! :)
I really liked this book! Some parts of the book I just couldn't wait to see what would happen!I couldn't believe who was the bad guy!Recommend this book for pre-teens and teens!Boys would NOT like this book as it is mostly about girls at a boarding school for girls.I don't think adults would like this book either. It was an AWESOME RE READ!

A Short Pleasant Read for any age.
It may have been written for 11 year old kids but even an old lady pushing 70 can enjoy it. The author's portrayal of the main character shows an understanding of how 12 year old kids are at a disadvantage in making decisions due to lack of information and experience. I couldn't fault the praying part since it didn't get in the way of the plot. It reminded me of Nancy Drew without the rudeness.
